US: True Detective

Started off average and finished terribly. None of the characters were likeable and I didn't enjoy the supernatural stuff.

Sadly there have been lots of recent examples of once great tv shows living off their name alone: this, Fargo series 5 and Justified: City Primeval

I think Fargo series 5 was leagues above this, but yes, still not as good as it once was.

Finished S4 tonight, did not work out that would be the ending whilst watching it. Liked the nods to s1 with the symbols and seeing Rust's Dad.

In other news, renewed for s5 but no doubt be a few years before we get it:

I’ll remember the intro music and the setting for a while but not the story sadly
It's not often I don't skip through the intro. Loved this one, plus as you say, great setting.
and hints of something extra-ordinary
This spoilt it for me. I guess I'm too logical/disbelieving of it all and it was never really explained. What was the relavent of the polar bear? The people pointing at Navarro? So much not explained.
And they all knew somehow that ALL the scientists were responsible for the murder and thus all guilty.
Yeah, the cops are terrible people, let alone terrible cops. I get that they did a bad thing... or someone did... but then to just murder them all? Even then, was it understood why they were frozen in those poses, like they were being attacked and then flash frozen?

Just so much didn't make sense to me. Why did that guy act possessed when the stations was attacked? All in all, well presented and acted, but just kind of silly...

So many dots to join, altho they just formed a mess of a picture for me....
Watched it, wanted to enjoy it - the opening credits and intro theme showed promise. From there it seemed disjointed and I wasn't quite sure if the X-Files elements were real or imaginary. The one eyed polar bear, real or symbolic....
A bit like the storm in the last episode, much of it went woosh right over my head.
I liked so many parts.....but adding them altogether as a whole didn't seem to make much sense.

One eyed polar bear was a toy that Jodie Fosters (deceased) son once had.
Yeah, I'm not sure that explains why she was seeing it though? Are they all basically going mad?

The orange thrown back at Navarro and then appearing in the fridge later... surely there were loads that I think we're supposed to assume were supernatural... but not believing in any of that means it just doesn't work for me.

Hated season 4. What a massive turd of a series. It had nothing interesting to say, was poorly written, had no likable characters, stupid supernatural bits and I didn't think it was even acted that well by most of the cast.

Season 1 and 3 were my favourites (1 being the best). Even season 2 was miles better than whatever the hell this was.
