** True keyboard connoisseurs - LOOK IN HERE! **

Reds will be available end of the month, maybe pushing start of next month.

Brown switches are not great, they are very much like membrane switches. Don't see the point in upgrading your keyboard to a mechanical board that feels like cheaper membrane board.

I have used all colours and the order from best to worst is

Red Switches
Black Switches
Blue Switches
Brown Switches

What are you talking about? Black switches are just RSI finger killers, far too heavy.

Blues make too much noise, browns are lovely they have a nice tactile feedback which helps you not bottom out the keys, great for typing great for gaming.

You are seriously misguided if you think brown switches feel like membrane boards, for a start you have to bottom them out.

I personally feel if you buy a linear board you might as well just get a membrane board, you don't gain anything from it.

I have not tried reds though, hard to come by.

I think the main point showing is different people have different preferences.

The brown I used is the zowie.

The reds switch is uncommon due to the licensing per switch is 7 centsmore than he others

Is that overall? I'm going to order one soon but so many options, I mainly play cs but I do a lot of typing to so would red still be a good bet?

It's a shame I literally have no shops to try each switch in. :(

I am not sure there are any shops in the UK you can try them, a shame really because it is really one of those things you need to test before you buy.

I guess you can just RMA it if you don't like.

Trust me, you will not miss it. I thought the screen on my G15/G19 keyboards were an essential addition, especially for Ventrillo and HW monitoring.

Since I have been testing Mechanical Keyboards, I have tried out nearly every major release by each gaming vendor and also the keyboard specialist brands such as Das, Ducky, Filco etc and using a mech board is uncomparable.

sure, it is useful to have a monitoring screen, if Logitech decided to bring out a mech board with a switch type I like or the screen of a G19 as a standalone product, I would probably get it to have the best of both worlds.

Its totally worth it.

that mouse, is also a fantastic choice, I really want one since I tried it out.

I couldn't get used to the mouse and i've got it on the mm for £39 just now if you are interested.

I think the ec2 might have been better for me.

Ahhhh.... I hate noisy keyboards!

Seems a quest to find a silent keyboard or mouse is impossible.

Keyboards and mice were designed to "click" or "tap" to make that noise.

That is exactly what I have been trying to find for the past 10+ years, there are a few laptop style keyboards with more flat/smaller keys but even then they got a tap noise. Mice even worser... none stop clicks...

I am still on a quest to find a mouse with that rubber type feel buttons and more importantly a mouse that does not click.....

Have you ever googled "silent mouse"?

OcUK, any idea what date you're expecting the MX Red switch model to be in? And if it will be any more expensive?

Hmm think ill just pop to a carboot and grab a old ibm mechanical keyboard from there for 50p :p
I have an unused IBM PS/2 'clicky' keyboard in the cupboard as I'm still using my 20-year old Northgate Omnikey Ultra. :D
I've also got a Wang 724 somewhere. They're all great keyboards but the problem for all of them is that the PS/2-to-USB convertor I need for my KVM doesn't pass through certain key combinations. For example, Alt-PrintScreen & Ctrl-PrintScreen are both trapped which can be really irritating. So I have a Cherry G80-3000 ready to go - I'm going to miss some of the Ominikey's features like the dedicated * key but at least the Cherry has a UK layout and is clean......

The red switch type will no doubt be more expensive. To make a mech board using cherry switches, you have to pay for licensing per switch. This translates to more cost to manufacture also as there are over 100 switches on the board all at a higher cost price.

This is one of the main reason why Corsair use red switches but manage to keep the cost of the board's relatively low by using membrane keys on the less used keys.

Now I can't see it being loads more but you usually pay a premium for a red keyboard
Look at the blue switched .MK80 compared to the red switched .MK85 for example.

The red switch version of the trigger has still not been given a date for UK launch and we sadly still have no update on a stock eta either. AceModder is festering CM about it though, rest assured that it will be at OcUK first.
