Trueaudio

Occulus Rift. Proper surround sound. Heaven.

for those who want to look like a deep sea diver and smell of rubber too lol
im not a big fan of that yet

but if the tech turns out to be amazing and there's no good games that's the hardware makers fault right? :)

hmhm!

Occulus rift is getting investment, and constantly have stuff going on with it. Alien isolation works entirely with it. That's a modern game, working with it. And rift is completely different to supporting and investing something like true audio.

What enhancement in gaming has been successful without investment? Take kinect, it gets crap support and many consider it a flop.

99/100 post same people talking same crap....

Its a piece of metal and plastic that plays games, why do people get all emotional?

Try getting a dog or a cat?

its very different yep! but a trueaudio game has to be 1million times easier to make
and as you brought it up out of nowhere :)

I did get the chance to try rift out but a long time ago now
I also played on a huge VR machine in a hongkong arcade when I was little and that had wearable arms and legs parts it was insane, I loved it

I think its niche tho!
I also tried out sony's display glasses, I forget what they called, almost as uncomfortable as the rift, just as tragic looking but I could imagine playing a lot more games on it

anyway there's a point in there somewhere :)~~~ lunch!

This is something I was looking forward to taking off too. Shame it's not in anything that doesn't have any advanced sound but just 'normal' sound, it would be nice to use it in any game even if the gain is only 1fps.

I think Alien Isolation would been the perfect Showcase for it.. Maybe they is a reason this tech died out couple years back and maybe it will happen again..

It could just be the case for too much work for it to be added into games that putting off the devs..

TrueAudio is a fully programmable audio engine maybe its just to much time and money..

They no denying it though it, it sounds superb.

I don't see people lining up to build an Nvidia gaming system with a Kaveri as the CPU choice (Or frankly using it as a base for most GPU's that don't support True Audio). You wouldn't expect them to either.
Nobody in the right mind would do that anyway, as the moment the Nvidia card detect a AMD GPU it will drag PhysX back into its house and lock it up like a dog :p

Ignore him, looks like he's on one again...

Cracking contribution as always Humbug. You shame me with your objective and out of the box thinking. Wowzers.

Any opinions on the matter at hand? Is True Audio to you a success or a flop? Is TressFX paving the way of a new era of hair in games, or did it fall flat?

Do you think that there's ever been an advancement in gaming which came about on its own merits without sustained support by its vendor through financial backing?

but it does use the existing soundcard so....having a good soundcard still matters

think of it like phys-x but the exploding things are sound, atleast that's how it makes sense in my brain :o

people arent still buying sound cards for audio processing are they...i thought the only thing they were good for now was if you needed a certain amplification for headphones..

AV receiver from HDMI is the way to go...

lol I don't claim to be anything but a noob with audiophile stuff, i don't have a dedicated card in my pc here, but i know without the headphone amp my headphones sound rubbish

i haven't done much at all with hdmi out besides play stuff to the tv when i cant sit and wear headphones, usually when tidying up or whatever :)

The game devs dont need to program from the ground up to utilize True Audio. APIs such as AstoundSound is pretty much "plug and play" and offers the support if you licenses it, with the added benefits of also being able to run of the CPU as well resulting in everything being able to use it making it a better investment. It was all in the presentation back when they revealed the 290x.
