Hi there

First of all this is a V2 of the tablet we sold before Christmas, we got feedback that even though this tablet was extremely fast, the issues were random lockups or shut downs and dead pixel issues.

We have since worked with our manufacturer of these and the two important changes are:-

  • 5000mAH battery upgraded to 5400mAH battery
  • Screen supplier changed
  • Much higher level of Quality Control from the factory in China

I've being testing the new updated model for last few several weeks along with family and friends, it would seem the new unit on a whole is a lot more stable and even though we can't pre-test every single unit, the factory in China has pre-checked every single one before shipping for dead pixels and stability.

As such we feel this new revised model has the same superb performance of the former, without some of the niggles and poor QC the previous model had. So even though there are many happy owner of the previous one as most of them were absolutely fine, we also had a very high percentage of customers who had issues, mainly with dead pixels.

So here is the amazing deal, I am doing this deal for the first 100 units sold:-

TB-037-OT_400.jpg

OcUK Ultima tablets use a combination of the fastest hardware to ensure gameplay is smooth and response is instant. The other major advantage is they use Super-High resolution IPS screens for incredible image quality along with great viewing angles. They also come housed in very high quality and extremely thin chassis making them stunning to look at as well making you the envy of all your friends.

OcUK Ultima tablets are unbeatable for the money and their performance cannot be matched at this price point and the screens making using them a joy. They also feature aluminium ally back plate which further adds to the quality of these tablets, for the money these are unbeatable!

This new V2 version fixes issues the previous version had with batteries and screen by using larger capacity 5400mAH battery compared to the previous 5000mAH. Also the touchscreen is updated to a new supplier with pre-check for dead pixels, meaning these units are dead pixel free.

Consider the fact ours uses a 10-point touchscreen, compared to most competitors 5-points touch with dual core 1.60GHz processor and a FREE 16GB SD card included as well. :)

If they have sorted the issues out that the previous ones had then this looks like a great deal.

How much longer does the battery last on this one Gibbo?

About 40-60 minutes more, but the problems some units had with shutting off randomly is no longer present, which was the main issue. :)

So can they utilise the google play store? or do they not get any additional app support?

All tablets we sell have Google Play store license and are ready to go, just sign into your google account to download apps/games. :)

does that include the storage options scroll elite? I haven't managed to get it working on mine (just crashes when you go to install something).

I believe so, but its not advertised as such as being compatible, but we've stopped dealing with them and are just clearing the stock to get rid now to be honest, so apart from the Evoke they are very old models, once sold out we won't be selling Storage Options tablets again as the failure/DOA rate is way too high, out of every brand we've ever sold they are the worse. :(

Would also like to know this. Mine locks up usually once per day. Hardly use it anymore because it's a pain having to reset it with the button at the back.

If its locking due to hardware, you can RMA it, but as always with any tablet it can sometimes be software based, depending on the application your running and if its compatible.

For example, don't laugh, but Fruit Ninja is quite flaky on all the quad core based models I've tested it on including big brand names and it runs better on dual cores. Suspect its a case of when desktop processors went to Multi-Core, the software had to catch up.

But as said if its a hardware fault, we will replace it. :)

Really gives any tablet some great volume and what makes it unique is the tablet nicely sits on them due to the speaker/stand design. Very goooooooood!

well mine works fine but not quite as nicely as a tablet with a playstore....or the bbc iplayer...or one you can put on standby without stupid amount of battery drain. Not that I'm bitter :D

Yeah when they work they are OK, but our failure rate was nearly 50%, which is absolutely insane, hence the decision to phase them out.

Now that they have acknowledged that the first version had poor battery and prone to lock-ups they should replace it as it isn't fit for the purpose.

The device were fine for purpose, I am using a V1 at home no issues, and regular get 5-6 use from it, browsing the web, emails and playing the odd game, no issues. Perfectly fit for purpose, an effect unit will have following issues.......

In short the batteries/screens had too high a failure rate, it is easy to detect if you have issues, with screens it was dead pixels, easy to spot. If you had a battery issue it was as simple as the unit randomly switching off when not on mains, locking up in a 3D Game/Video when on battery but not on mains or only lasting a very short time, like less than 1hr on battery. Due to these issues the failure rate was higher than expectation. If the tablet has these issues, it is faulty, we've taken action that will hopefully vastly reduce this or completely eradicate it. :)

Fortunately majority work absolutely fine. :)

Having had two V1's die very soon after purchase, I'm a little wary, but I'll give the V2 a chance at that price :)

When it worked, the V1 was all cool.

Well we shall be very interested in feedback, hopefully these new batches will have better reliability, otherwise we shall have to source another factory, which would be a shame as they are great tablets when you get a working one of course.

Hi there

Our warehouse shipped some without uk plug, if this hapPened to your order contact returns/cs who will send yOu a uk plug out.

They don't charge via USB.

If your tablet is opening and scrolling by itself remove the protective cover.

Can someone try a 64GB SD card in it & see if it works.
The spec on this website is contradictory, mentions SD card twice with different capacities! Firstly says:
Storage: 8GB NAND Flash (Upgradable to 64GB /w SD Card)

Then a couple of lines down:Memory Card: Micro-SD (Support upto 32GB)

No mention of any capacity limit in what is jokingly supplied as a user manual.
Also noticed the user manual says its an A9 1.5Ghz processor, not 1.6Ghz as stated in the spec on ocuk.
Which is correct I wonder?

They are 1.6GHz max speed, antutu benchmark can confirm.

Bit worrying that some are still having screen issues after manufacturer claimed to inspect them and issues. We shall monitor RMA very closely and if it goes beyond other brands then we will have to find a new solution.

I've tried a few but all of which are still on my desk and I test them with web browsing, play store, fruit ninja, dead trigger, antutu, quadrant and streaming YouTube hd videos and BBC iplayer, all of which no issue.

Hi there

Ok so far much better, still not perfect but we've sold 100+ since posting this thread and so far 4 returned, 3 faulty, one un wanted, a vast improvement over before and better stats then some branded models, early days yet but let's see how it goes. Also got a hardcore 7" too which is epic spec, similar to nexus 7 performance, but half the money, still testing though.

Hmmm, tis ever so strange. It dies as if the battery is empty, although the battery would have, for example 70% charge left as displayed in the bottom right. It won't turn back on unless I plug it in, in which case I can turn it on straight away again and have it tell me there's still 70% left.

It's as if a battery cell gets depleted but it doesn't transition seamlessly to the next xell (not that I know how these batteries work lol).

Anyone have any ideas?

That to me sounds faulty. Plug it in to mains, power the tablet on, then put into standby mode until fully charged. Then unplug from mains and use until battery is sub 10% and then recharge. If that does not fix it your unit has a duff battery.

pheww. Thanks, I was stuck there, it does"nt mention anything like that in the manual, not that i can find. Was left scratching my head, I never even saw the reset its so small

Most tablets have a hard reset switch, normally on the back, very small and needs a paperclick to do for the occasions where they do hard lock, which is a good idea.

As my Ipad froze, no matter what I tried nothing worked, until eventually the battery was drained and it shut off, which being an Ipad took a while.......

Mine needed to be hard reset a couple of days ago. When turning on, about 1 inch all around the screen was white. Had to reset it 3 times to get it to go away. Got rid of a launcher app which seems to have made it noticeably faster, and hard resets are few and far between. Battery life isn't too great - can get about 5 hours on minimum brightness, with no wifi or anything, just reading PDF files.

This is from the first batch though, back in December/January.

That's about right, a unit which has taken several charges tend to give 4-6hrs, sometimes a little longer but not much.

It is unfortunately the major issue with lower cost tablets, they typically make the saving on the battery.

The Point of View tablets and Goclever units we sell typically have better batteries but of course also cost more too. For me battery is not an issue as I use my tablet at home, so plug it into mains when I've finished with it, so always has full charge. :)

I sorted out the battery problem by uninstalling nova launcher. Don't know why that would affect it but after removing it I got around 6 hours continuous video playback on it. Well chuffed.

Has anyone tried the mini-hdmi on these? When I plug in the cable the tablet screen quickly fades to black and nothing is displayed on the monitor. Am I missing something. remarkably little online about this :(

Tablet has to be on mains power for hdmi to function.
