I think yours has a duff battery, to my knowledge auto brightness does not work on any of them, someone correct me if wrong.
Put it into standby mode, leave it on charge over night, then in morning if its at 100%, shut it down completely and re-power on. If battery seems fine and its not locking up see how it goes.
If the battery is still unstable or locking, your unit has a dodgy battery, at which point we can get it quickly replaced for you.
The new batch are far more reliable but as with all tablets, they do have a failure rate.
