Good deals there, but arghhhhh I still don't have 250 posts to qualify for free postage. It's a matter of principle for me not to pay for it when a GPU is so much already. I better get posting and hope something good is on next month!
 
Ive got an Asus GTX480 from the deal last year. Not sure if its worth upgrading to the 580 for the quieter running, the speed increase would be a bonus.

You think i'm limited @ 4.2 ? surley not?
It can run the game @ 1920 x 1200 maxed out, but it's not as smooth as it should be:( so yo think my cpu needs changing. new board and chip?

Probably better off upgrading to a 670.

Yeah two 6970's should cope with everything at 1080P imho. Something isn't right there, it may be CPU limited, the 6970 performs similar to GTX 480, if my 480's can handle 2560 x 1440, your 6970's should handle 1080P easily?

It might be worth switching to Ivy or Sandybridge and aiming for 4.6Ghz - 4.8Ghz. That way you might not need to change GPU's and have a nice CPU upgrade..

The only problem i have is BF3. i use 1920x1200 every maxed out.
I can play but it's not smooth smooth like it should be. some parts ok but then it's not butter smooth like it should be. i have to then turn mas 4x off and turn down to high if i want smooth. i do also notice jaggied lines on fences and poles in the distance which is anoyin.

What system you running on? can you tell me your setting in the ccc please?
and what drivers, caps u using etc :)

Cpu is a 2600k at 4.6Ghz and I use the 12.4 drivers with no cap and enable vsinc in game to cap the fps at 60 and remove motion blur, I also game with a 24" screen at 1920x1200. Try those settings and see if it's any better bud!

Like some say, could be the cpu! i7 950 @ 4.2 i really didn't think i would have problems. im using them same settings. what settings do u have in your ccc mate?
