Take-Two has announced in a conference call that it intends to release more exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV episodes for the Xbox 360 in 2009...

"In fiscal 2009 we'll also be offering additional episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360," confirmed Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two.

The publisher also reiterated the full game will be released next year, with two exclusive episodes due before the end of 2008.

So beyond the initial two extra episodes, there will be more content into 2009 which ensures longevity for the game. I'm certainly looking forward to it now. I don't think the PS3 will get the content as it is Microsoft-funded stuff.

its nice to see a company update a sandbox game with a lot of content. Im so sick of movie games like transformers (ew) which would be nice if they could be updated. wait until transformers 2 ok, I bet they will release a whole new game for the movie even though the only difference will be new bots. wow. <sarcasm>thats thinking out of the box </sarcasm>

Im not a gta fan myself - but its nice to see them doing something with 1 game instead of releasing 9 million others that look and feel the same but with different trees. (you get at where Im going with this)

I'm not fussed what console it comes for, I plan on having a PS3 in future, I'll buy the game for the console it's best on, Just like I did when it was PS2 and Xbox.

Looks like this will be a 360 game purchase. Depending on how the actual game runs of course.

Its been debunked by take2.

A Rockstar rep told Next-Gen Wednesday that the content in question is merely the second of the two previously announced pieces of episodic content making their way to Xbox 360. While both pieces of episodic content were initially scheduled to hit Xbox 360 in Take-Two’s fiscal 2008, the second piece of content will now be available in fiscal 2009, a delay presumably brought about by the later than expected release of the highly anticipated title, which slipped from a planned 2007 debut to a 2008 fiscal second quarter (February 1 - April 30) release.

Ah well. 2 is better than 0 :)

i've never finished any of the GTA games to warrent extra content, lol, although pleny would have and its a nice bonus i much prefered Saints Row and what with Saints Row 2 comming to PS3 also i'm more than happy

So no news really, just announcing delays!!!!! (new content is good, delays are bad!!).

I am still in the camp that there will be "different" content for ps3 owners. But GTA is one of my favourite games so I will buy it for whichever platform has more content/features.

I have not heard much about what will happens in terms of multiplayer modes (surely there will be some after the limited success Saints Row had with theirs?). So that will help me decide as well.

I assumed with microsoft paying for it they'd want to get some of their cash back. I couldnt be wrong though

See I assumed the way in that they want more people to buy the 360 version so they are giving us free future downloadable content. Still up in the air I assume, they would be stupid to announce now that it will cost money as it will impact sales in advance!! Your way of thinking makes more sense. ;)

If it was good content I would pay anyway.

I think (hope) it will be like the larger Oblivion packs and therefore would expect to pay for it.

see this is the kind of content I'd be happy to pay for. Similarily if it was content like Crackdown, extra weapons/races/vehicles then that also would be worth paying for. If it was some duff content, like extra costumes or something then it'd be worthless to me.

However it makes sense that Microsoft wouldnt pay a tonne of money in order for some extra costumes and stuff and, to me at least, I reckon the content will be in a similar style to Crackdown's content.

If the PS3 version was technically any better, well generally in graphics then that might make it a harder decision which to choose.

2008 can still be a great year for PS3 owners
