my g/f was telling me about this, they've got telly where she works, the words she used were 'baghdad's going mental'

sounds about right to me

apparently their ripping down posters n'all

knew it would happen...

but LOL at people throwing shoes at statue to try and knock it down...

Yup, the footage is amazing here. Very symbolic.

One thing, throwing shoes, in Arab states, is a sign of disrespect, the whole, showing the sole of your shoes/feet thing.

I don't need to excuse myself for being against this war, and I don't feel ashamed of questioning the motive for it. I can't help but feel joy for the Iraqi people at the moment, with the images we are seeing, and I hope it lasts for a vey long time.

if only our friend Mohammed Aaeed al-Sahaf hadn't legged it he would be telling us the iraqi people were tearing it down to put a bigger statue of saddam up
