Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has suspended production of advanced silicon for Chinese startup Biren Technology to ensure compliance with US regulations, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The decision is connected with information in the public domain that Biren’s products outperform Nvidia Corp.’s A100 chips, which are now banned for the Chinese market, the person said, asking not to be identified discussing a sensitive matter. While TSMC has not reached a conclusion on whether Biren’s products meet the US threshold for restrictions, the Taiwanese chipmaker has decided to stop supplies to the Chinese startup for now, the person said.

^... I have to agree with him sadly... TSMC maybe sticking a target on their backs.

Its time for Apple, AMD and Nvidia to partner with TSNC.

That's the only way the US can be sure its a US interests company, in which case they will protect it no matter what happens.

There are rumours AMD are looking for ways back in to the fab business, there you go AMD......

yeah whats going to happen in the short term is nvidia getting a truckload of chinese orders for the A100/H100.. theres supposed to be a cool off period for the ban to come into effect. anyone knows more details?

Those of us with half a brain (in other words half more than a politician) have been saying for decades that out-sourcing anything to China is a really bad idea.

I am surprised in the UK that we haven't outsourced all our energy from China. We probably would have done if we could string some pylons over Kazakhstan and Russia.

Hold up. It outperforms the a100! The Chinese caught up quicker than I thought they would.
Indeed.

Apparently, the Biren Z200 is hosted on a 'Uitan' class PCB running at 1411 mhz.

The Nvidia A100 is hosted on a 'Titan' class PCB running at 1410 mhz.
