Sometimes its really dodgy whether they are for real or not.
However once when I was in Germany, I'd bought one iof those huge french baguettes from a bakery. As we walked through the train station (Before going through any barriers) I decided I just didn't want it (After about 3 bites). I was about to throw it away in a bin when I saw someone who obviously appeared homeless. I thought... "Why not, either way it's better than binning it", because tbh he really REALLY was a sorry sight. So I handed him the bread and let him know it was for him, and then walked off, checking back about 20 metres ahead before rounding the corner, I noticed he was still just sat there holding it, and looking at me with what appeared to be wonderment, but it could have been anything.
5 minutes later some mates also walked into the train station past him, one of them dropped him a couple of euros. Apparently he was just finishing off the bread.
It made me feel happy that I had probably done something good
