Tuniq Tower OWNERS!! Question.

Yes you can, as long as the fan is not thicker than the standard ones.

As with the fan controller the one comes with the cooler only works with the standard tuniq fan.

Cheers Steve, would a Noctua S-12 (800RPM) do the job? + If i had a spare Sharkoon silent eagle would that do the job? (If it fits) or are they more at home as a case fan? To be used with a Q6600, plans to OC, and after some quietness. :)

hmm the fins are quite dense so even with the standard tuniq fan at max speed (2000RPM) I can hardly feel any air coming out of the heatsink, so I think the noctua 800rpm is better suited for case tbh. Not sure about the sharkoon one as I'm total n00b when it comes to fans but you need something that can push high cfm. The sharkoon silent eagle 2000 seems like it will cope well though.

Personally, on anything from medium to high, the Tuniq's fan is unacceptably loud. So, reluctantly, I decided to replace the Tuniq fan with a Scythe S-Flex 1600. Much quieter at both full blast and very low, and if anything, I'm getting better temps. So now I'm a reasonably happy bunny....

However...

the reason why I opted for a Tuniq over the Thermalright is that the price includes a fan. That benefit goes away if you have to buy another fan. And frankly, the Tuniq is such a monster, and such a pain to install, I wouldn't buy another. Still, its there now, and doing sterling service, just not looking forward to my next CPU upgrade...

I found it pretty easy to install and still do. Ive removed and fitted it several times now without any problems..I found the Intel clip system a pain in the a**e to fit, least with the tuniq its more secure.
The fan is loud at full speed and to be honest the temps dropped 1-2 degrees at best at that setting so I run around 1400rpm, my case fans drown out the little noise produced at that speed anyway.
I was going to get a thermalright but the price was too high just for an extra couple of degrees of cooling.

Ive have tried three coolers now. A Scythe ninja came in third best followed by a big typhoon vx but the tuniq out performs them both on my system.

I find you can go up to 1500rpm before you can hear it over the noise of my other case fans. So I run it at 1450rpm to be sure and at that speed its happily cooling a Q6600 at 3.5gig.

Anyone know how to set the tuniq fan to 100% all the time?
I have the suplied controller on as well, but would like to run the fan @ 100% all the time whilst weathers hot/warm. Just not too sure how to do it. BTW noise doesn't bother me as long as the fans are doing their job.

If you can't be bothered to give any decent help then why bother to reply.

He was right, and I would have given the same answer, I don't think he was being sarky.

The controller on the back is permanent, turn it clockwise until it stops and your fan will run 100% until you fiddle with it again

i find that adjusting the fan speed did nothing but change the noise level....temps didnt change at all...and if they did it was by 1C. dont really understand it tbh.

but the temps are good on low and i cant hear tyhe cooler.

So, as i'm buying a TT for my new setup and I want to have a relativly quiet CPU cooler, however the main point is that I want to OC my Q6600 to 3.6Ghz on Air, and thats paramount rather than having a quiet computer rather than a good one.

Should i keep the TT fan, or should i buy another fan for it instead?

I notice no difference in temps wen at lowest to highest so i keep it low for no noise. Wonder if replacing the fan would make a difference but as the fins dont even get hot to touch i cant see that it needs a fan at all...
