Tuniq Tower Price WTF!

also the thermalright 120 extreme is at £58 the last time i looked - other places have it for £35. but this could be because OCuk dont have any stock in...

I got the Tuniq while it was cheap, think its a good cooler for the money i paid. I find it works very well, but i was shocked when i saw the price increase recently. Its a fairly tight fit in the 900 case, and alittle fiddly to fit, but would still recommend them to others, although without having a direct comparison with other coolers, i'd suggest alittle research. Everyone loves the true coolers, but the fact that most if not all of them need lapping (thus voiding any warrenty) is pretty unforgivable imo, especially as its always been more expensive than the Tuniq's.

There is a retention kit available but quite hard to source over here if my 5 minute google was anything to go by.

Not sure why they can't put it in the box as standard though, it's only a few dollars to buy over the pond.

Not really...do a search for Xigmatek Crossbow.

Got my TT for 20 pounds (here in The Netherlands) think it's an OK HSF, anyway the mounting is very strong and I like that. Much better then the pushpin nightmare on my old Scythe Mugen, my hand looked like I had a firework bomb explode in it after removal or fitting. The scythe mugen was so heavy and with that pushpin mounting I saw it pulling my motherboard and was always scared the pushpin would fail and my cpu would instantly fry :D Anyway I had to go to my neighbour to saw some metal off of the mounting kit to make the TT fit on a Maximus Formule lol :D

tbf the tuniq and the true are a lot cheaper if you shop around

i guess its supply and demand

im still using my thermaltake v1 - does the job
i honestly think that anything over £30 for an air cooler is far too much

£28 + VAT when i got mine in March. No need for this price rise, certainly not as a result of £ vs $, as the argument has been given with many other components.

OCUK have u sold any of these at this price? Maybe it is a typo and someone is sitting there scratching their head wondering why they have 2,000 units sitting in the warehouse :p

I'd hate to imagine what installing the tuniq is like if they thermalright is meant to be a lot easier. Its a pain in the neck, and the less said about the way the fan clips on the better.

I'm yet to find anything that is as easy to install as a swiftech waterblock :p

The Dtec's are also ez :) I also found the TT really EZ as well so i'm not sure who your quoting :p I did however install a full cover EK 4870 block on the weekend and it was a royal pain in the a*se. You can't over tighten or tighten more in some places otherwise the card starts to warp and eventually crack lol
