Turbo vs NA

Needs a 6th gear maybe :p

Cracking gearbox when supercharged :D

Aye no doubt the gti-6 box is loads better, I don't think it bothers me that much to try and source a good condition (unlikely) or recon (expensive) 6 box!

I love my turbo lag - yes it means the car takes longer to respond, but it gives such a thump in the back as it takes off like a scalded cat and the car next to you goes "What the ...!" :D

Massive amounts of lag, but then it is 1978 so no proper boost control and the worlds first wastegate was a bit clunky :)

I think it depends on the car really. For example my matchbox MR2 feels awesome with a revvy NA engine and I'd hate to transplant a 2.0 turbo from the Mk2 into it, I think it would ruin the character.

N/A for me, sound better, get more revs out of them, and that lovely clean sharp throttle response.

Probably because you said Supercharged N/A which is a contradiction in terms.

Aye pretty dubious. Probably because my mind is at supercharged LS1's at the moment which mentally computes to me as being a normally aspirated engine then supercharged.

I apologise for my brainfart - normal service of tugging myself unconscious over japcrap will resume shortly.

I do prefer little twin turbos as the torque low down is usually superb, but part of me loves old school turbos too.. I want lag when im having a blast, it makes it more fun for me.

Pretty sure you mean boost threshold and not lag as well.

I might have to write a letter to Top Gear at this rate

Currently on my first and old Turbo powered car.

Have to admit it was great at first. That sudden surge of torque... However its taken almost three years for the hype to wear off. Not sure my next car will be turbo powered, The lag is just too annoying now (I imagine turbo lag isnt much of an issue with more premium powered cars..... BMW, AUDI, Merc).

Next car will either be supercharged or naturally aspirated.... For a more consistent power band.

boost ***, never had an issue with lag on a petrol turbo, even running up to 350hp on a 2.0l 4pot is responsive enough. Turbo diesels on the other hand, oh dear. Lag city with absolutely no guts at all off boost, makes for an irritating drive. Why doesn't anyone make a supercharged diesel?
Sequential turbos help a fair bit. It isn't completely lag free, but the boost threshold is low enough. I can drive around faster than most cars can go without breaking 2000 RPM (which is incidentally about 200 HP). I wonder what my 0-60 and 0-100 times would be trying to stay under 2000 RPM....

Does sound pretty good, I'd like a go in one but as it happens I don't know anyone with one, never mind that would let me drive it :p
Actually had a little play with a 535d this afternoon, pretty fast, was unable to get away from him.
