"turbos smokes a bit after full load"

Blue(ish) smoke can mean turbo seals too, as the oil is leaking through them and ends up getting burnt.
My old Fiat Coupe had a turbo seal problem after I removed the cat as there was not enough back-pressure to keep the seals tight. Had to put the cat back on to stop plumes of smoke billowing out of the exhaust after leaving to idle for a few minutes.

Can the seals be fixed on a turbo? Is it finacially viable on an old car?

yup of course, can be done with a full rebuild. No clue what it costs here but for a full rebuild + balancing in the states I paid 150usd

or you can go to a junkyard and find a spare working turbo...

why? on/under full load is one thing, ie the engine experiencing full load. after full load is another different thing, ie once the driver is off the throttle

The pressure while under power can keep the oil where it needs to be (behind the seals). Come off the power and this reduces the pressure in the exhaust allowing the seals to weep.

Had it on my old turbo before I swapped it. Lots and lots of smoke while idling/driving normally, but none on full boost.

Yea same happened to my old turbo, wasn't till after boost that it would smoke.
