Turbos

Merlin is right here, the DC5 has a better power:weight ratio and a very similar suspension set-up. In the real world, the differences are negligible but they are there :D

Yeah the difference is so negligible that id say the drivers weight or even his breakfast could swing the power to weight either way lol. Personally id take the DC5 as the DC2 looks very dated inside now and that's where I sit lol.

Well, I'm looking to get something similar in the coming months to replace our second car, and I'm seriously considering getting a lower end DC5 rather than a higher end DC2 as they seem to be at that point where they are at lower mileage because of their age than a DC2 at the same price.

Oh change the tune, we all have :p DC5s are just starting to creep into the budget of muppets though, some poor examples can be picked up for < £7k.

Well mines not a poor example and im not a muppet.:D

Would have to be a complete dog for 7k? Just looked and theres a couple on for around 7200, wow.

At least insurance will put a lot off.

8k should get you quite a goodish one...........9K and your talking a really good one.

I almost went with importint one from Andy at 200bhpcars but i found a minter on the owners club.

This nice if you've got 21k:

Dont get a lower end DC5, or do so if you really want but thats the thing with imports. Would you buy a car over here thats 8 years old with no history as the cheaper imports usually have no history and can be accident repaired and palmed off to cheap import companies. If you're going to go import its always best to go through a reputable company or a well looked after owners club example

I've been tempted by import DC2's loads of times but its too much money for such an old car

I trust in my ability to spot a nail at time of viewing - if I viewed a few £7-8k ones and they all turned out to be ****, I'd probably give up my search :)

220bhp from a NA engine is awesome.

It's a fantastic technical acheivement, but in the real world? Unless you really like the power delivery you could argue that 220bhp from an NA 2 litre engine (I'm assuming you dont just mean an NA engine because if you do then LOL, 220bhp is far from awesome from an NA engine!) is not really as good as 220bhp from a 2.5 litre engine in terms of flexible power delivery?

I find the same with my DC5. Running Eagle F1s GSD3 it is very hard to get the front end to under steer in dry conditions.

Horses for courses really..

Huh? The suspension is nothing alike..

The differences are most definitely there, you're not wrong. On release, DC5 was slated for being poor. In fact I think it was even said that the car wasn't deserving of the Type-R badge. Was never popular with tuners either, as I remember the story was that you couldn't really do anything to the front suspension without making it worse.
Seems that the only people who believe it's better than the DC2 are owners, funny that.

Even the Spoon guy said he the DC5 was an insight in a different shell I beleive was his comparison? And he chose the Accord CL9 chasis for a Spoon race car project

I beleive so anyway, not particulary gospel info

I was always under the impression from the Honda fanboi's that the DC5 with all those k20 t0rks (relative boys! don't get your knickers in a twist) was better for straight line and daily life, but the DC2 was the one that handled.

I think you may have your NA's and FI's mixed up ;)

EDIT: ahh, I see what you are saying - no displacement mentioned.
