Then how do they know the eggs we eat havent got babies inside?

Phil.

Because an egg is just a birds period m8t. The eggs we eat are not fertilized. So they can't grow into chickens/turkeys or what other bird it is.

The turkey you got for christmas maybe a rooster or a female. The bigger turkeys tend to be the rooster and the smaller one's the female hen type. a lot of the eggs produced by turkeys are empty (useless) so only a few of the eggs will ever hatch into wee turks.

The eggs produced after the male has done his thing are taken and hatched in a heated box. Some are fertilized, some not. They hold the eggs to the light to see the shadow of the growing chick after so many days (a bit like putting your hand over a tourch and seeing the blood glow). Good ones are kept, duff get binned

Correct, do it every year with the turkeys. So far the outcome of the eggs have been really good with only one dodgy one.

i know ;)

I've been there, X on oneside and O on the other so u know whats been turned and whats not :)

(the eggs in the heater are turned every 12 hours to stop the baby bird sticking to the bottom and deforming)

ERMMM....

right, roosters don't lay eggs they are male

cocks don't lay eggs they are male

male chickens don't lay eggs they are male

Its the same as humans

Female lays the egg but with mamals the egg stays inside the female, but if its not fertilized it comes out in the period (that time of the month thing ;))

Can i just point out that a roosted dosn't have a ****
male and female 'join' by pressing vents together, then the male shoots his load via the joined vents

and yes vent does equal bum hole :)

Every thing leaves by the same hole
