I thought this might be an informative thread when I started reading but I see everyone is hacking there way to the top and not playing it as it is meant to be done.

Least I learnt a few things about the HMs before the hacks got out of control.

Cheating would be using an AR or similar. What we are doing is in the game, and is rewarded in the game by double fast leveling up.
Simple fact is that some things in the game cant be done without trading. That is what we're doing.

What your doing is lolism using AR codes and then giving you what you need for things that he doesn't. Or am I the only one to grasp that lol

I'm sure I'll find rare pokemon eventually and then I'll trade them for what they are worth as the game is meant to be played :)

Maybe.
But whats the difference between ARing the same things that we'd normally trade for?

Have you seen the trade 'prices' on the trading network!?
People are wanting Level 100 Pokemon for Level 5 ones that are rare! Mental.

The difference between trading with him or whoever for them is no different to doing so on the trading network.
Only difference is that he's probably got 99% of the things in the game and recognises that he doesnt really need to 'charge' mental prices for Pokemon he has excess of.

Dont be so uppity. It doesnt make the game any easyier, quest wise, as we still have to train the Pokemon up to a decent level.

Plus, who's to say wether he's ARed them or bred them?

Whoop

thing is im onto the 7th badge.

me obtaining a lvl 20 Ho-Oh, or a lvl10 Squirtle isnt going to change that, OR significantly impact my game.

Infact i dont believe there are ANY other way of obtaining a Ho-Oh on this Pokemon unless u have some wierd Ninty pass card from one of their events years ago.

Theres probably no harm but AR can screw up your game save, I was playing my cousin on wireless and all his pokemon were hacked to death (hp refilling itself after everytime it empties, colours being all wrong) and the thing is that I can see it on my side as well, so I simply just switched off cos I dont want to wreck my game save which I worked hard on.

You will find that hacked pokemons arent allowed on official nintendo wifi as there are some form of protection against pokemons with stats and moves set outside of its parameter so you wont be able to trade it via GTS or battle friends.

Ive got no problems using what i have. I didnt know, and still dont, if they were APed or bred. Accusing lolism of it is daft, as we dont know either way.
Ive still got a team of 6 or so good pokemon that ive done myself to battle with, and plan to breed when im further into the game as well.

Anyway:
Is it just me or is Kadabra with PhyBeem, Confusion, Disable & that mind stone pretty dam powerful? lol.
He's my most powerful pokemon at the moment, and im slowly training up the rest as well. I want all my team at Level 30 before i take on Gym 5.

How do i tell if they are hacked or not?
Or by hacked, do you mean able to use powers that they shouldnt be able to, higher than normal HPs, self restoring, ect?

There are 2 main type of 'hacked' pokemons, one is forcing the game the spawn a specific pokemon in the wild and these can be largely identified by looking at the 'met at' section as they are generally wrong (eg- Ho-oh/Lugia met at route XYZ or victory road or something silly like that as they are found at naval rock in FR and LG). This type of pokemon has generally 'legit' stats and moveset as they are spawned by the game and will probably be accepted by WiFi filters.

The other type of hacked pokemons would be ones artificially made with insane amount of stats and illegal moveset that the pokemon cannot naturally learn, you would rarely see these types of hacked pokemons on wifi as nintendo filters the majority of them.

I dont really mind people doing #1 as they offer no advantages over legit ones but I wouldnt personally do it myself.

I had a look at the one ive had traded thus far, and not knowing the locations spawned, cant tell either way wether they are hacked or not.
Their stats dont seem out of place though.

What are Ho-oh/Lugia?
Are they Diamond/Pearls equilivent to Mew/MewTwo?

Theres nothing wrong with using AR Codes. I completed the game without them, then bought an R4DS and was able to use it to have a little more fun and help a couple of people out

Not much harm in helping a few people get starting pokemon without getting screwed over in the game by some other person.

Only other thing i've duplicated were masterballs.
