Turtwig, Piplup or Chimchar?

Surf is currently the only HM worth using as an attack, all the rest should be dumped on HM slaves :D

I wouldnt give Monferno any HM as his evolved form is one of the best mixed sweeper in the game.

Ive got a lot of TMs that i havnt used, so i think for Pokèmon like Morferno, i'll leave him with cut for a bit, then when i meet that bloke that can unlearn them, i'll take it off him and give him a good move in its place, by which point i'd imagine most of the game world that requires the HMs would be open?
 
I wouldnt use any of the good TM's till you are confident that poke is staying in your team, nothing quite like using a decent TM on a poke thats gonna be in a box for all it's life.

Also you should have saved the Hidden Power TM till you are sure what attack type it is, you might want to check it what type it is for your Monferno as it varies depending on the poke's base stats (you can find hidden power calculators on google). If it turns out be something like hidden power ice/grass/dark/bug then its a definately keeper as it covers monferno's fire/fight type weakness, if its something less useful then you should consider replacing the skill.
 
Dunno what the one i give Morferno is, but its v.powerful against Rock pokemon, knocks all but the strongest out in one go, and even the ones that survive are a tackle away from fainting! lol.
 
Only problem I found with my monferno/monfernape is that one of the elite 4 has psychic pokemon which rip him to bits (hes fighting/fire). So make sure you someone else in your party who is strong enough to kill them (ghost's are good but can't find a good ghost!)

BTW does anyone know if the battle tower at the end is the only thing to carry on doing in the game ?
 
Just got to Solaceon Town then saved.
That experiance share thing is brillient!

My team now consists of:
- Monferno @ Level 23. (Has Cut).
- Staravia @ Level 22.
- Luxio @ Level 20.
- Onix @ Level 20. (Has Rock Smash).
- Kadabra @ Level 20.
- Gyrados @ Level 20.

Got loads of TMs: BulletSeed, Return, DoubleTeam, Thief, SteelWing, StealthRock, Grass Knot, Pluck.
And HM i havnt used yet, Strength.

Got loads of Pokemon captured.

Am i right in thinking that Steel Wing is the next thing up from Wing Attack? If so, is it worth over-writing wing attack on Staravia with it?

And Strength, whos it worth giving to? According to the HM, the members of my current team who can use it are Monferno, Gyrados, Luxio & Onix.
Onix and Monferno are out of the question as they already have a HM, so which out of Luxio and Gyrados would you recommend?

Steel Wing is a Steel attack and doesnt really suit Staravia that well, he will learn Aerial Ace soon anyway as a solid flying type move and you can always give him the Fly HM which is a better against AI.

I would give Onyx the Stength HM as it isnt really that good of a pokemon, theres better alternatives as you progress through the game so you might as well use it as a HM slave or do what I did and catch a lvl 5 machop and use him as a strength slave when I need rocks moved.

Also consider giving Monferno Grass Knot as it gives him coverage against his Water/Ground/Rock weakness.

I was planning on giving him fly tbh.

Whats the best rock Pokemon then?
As he's at Lv.20 for me at the moment and is pretty good upto now, only come across 3-4 trainers who've managed to knock more than a few HPs off him in battle.
What does strength do exactely?
At the moment my Onix has the following moves: RockSmash, Bind, Rage, RockThrow. Being completely honest, the only two moves of his i use are Smash and Throw. So if Strength is a better move than Rage or Bind?

What is grass knot like? Is it a good 'power' move?
He's good already against Ground/Rock, as the 'hidden move' he has seems to knock 90% of them types out in one go. And water ones, i cant remember what he's like against them, but i dont think he was too bad.

Rhyperior would be one of the top rock pokes in game, hits like a truck and has solid defence.

Grass knot's power depends on the weight off your opponent, 20 base power for the lightest foes and all the way up to 120 base power for the heavyweights.

Edit: Also Tyranitar is a great rock type, I think I have a bred a few of the pre-evolved form so if you want one just say so and I ll give you one

Im not sure what Pokemons of value i have to trade, but im up for trading. Havnt done any trading yet. :p.

Can i only trade in the 1st city? Because ive just done the 3rd Gym, and until i can get to the next place to get the fly thing, its not gonna be easy for me to get back to trade?

Ah well, I get in today around 5-6ish, so i'll try and find my friend code in the mean time and get ready to trade, if your still up for it?

All my team is around Level 23-25 now :D
So a few levels below the Pokemon used by the master in the 3rd Gym, but a well rounded team level wise imo. :).

you can have it for free as I have a box of them, just give me any thing you dont use. My FC is 3866 4538 7825 and you can do wifi in any pokemon center (think its upstairs).

You will need to give me your friend code from your pal pad so I can add you also

Hold on, didnt know i could only trade with my 'party' pokemon, brb. :).

Just logging back in now.

The only pokemon's ive got are around levels 5-8, so ive selected the one i'll never use, a Level 5 Bidoof.
Is that ok?
