I have had Sky Q for a few years but I have cancelled it as I resent paying for very little. They want the box back.

I have the Sky dish but no roof top (or loft) antenna.

My TV is a smart TV. I have excellent broadband.

What are my options for receiving TV via the dish? Recording would be great.

I have a usb fob in my TV for recording, is that not an option?.

My TV is just through, well, the TV along with various apps for streaming.

Probably a Freesat box like those by Humax if you want to record Freeview via your dish.

I'm sure others may have other options.

A satellite receiver sends power and control signals to switch polarization etc. on the LNB (box on the dish).

A TV Ariel is just a bit of nicely bent wire.

If you want to use the dish, you need a compatible satellite receiver.

Look for a Freesat unit. I've an old Humax that I've had for 5 years+. Plugs straight into my system although you may find you need to change the receiver unit on the dish. I had to do that for my folks to one that does both SkyQ and Freesat. That cost about £20 and took 2 minutes to fit.
You get all the usual channels and most of the apps too. And it's all free (after you buy the box, obviously).
