TV shows back in the day for gamers

First Class was my first memory of games on TV. Paperboy and some others. Sure it was called something else though and hosted by Angela Rippon. But from Google searches it was definitely First Class hosted by Debbie Greenwood.

I used to love Cybernet. Wasn't it on at something stupid like 2 or 3am? I remember having to set my VHS to record. Remember a couple of times my mum would watch a Blockbuster movie after I'd set the VHS player up or remove my blank tape!

Digitiser on Teletext was also good as it was daily but of course not a TV show.

Best feeling in the world when you were a kid.... can't sleep, put the TV on and Cybernet was just starting

Used to watch Games World on Sky One in the mid 90's (Bob Mills presented it, had in-house gamers to challenge, Big Boy Array et al).

Can't forget the Games Mistress too.....Jet from Gladiators.

Used to love Bob Mills on Games World. Something strangely amusing about watching him verbally abusing the cockier kids that used to go on the show.

Of course David Walliams used to do the tips as various characters on a Wednesday (I think?)

I like all the shows you guys have mentioned. It amazes me that there isn't really a good show similar to those on a main channel these days. Nearest is probably Dara O Briain's Go 8 Bit.

There is supposed to be a retro gaming show coming soon presented by Rob Beckett. Not sure what the show is called though.

I noticed a few of you mentioned Bad Influence! I was listening to the retro hour podcast and they were interviewing Andy Crane on there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DaGRTN-V8M

Interesting note listening to it, Crane said Violet Berlin's long term partner is "Gaz Top" (Gareth Jones). He used to be on How 2, and Get Fresh.

I seem to remember Bad Influence had a bit where viewers phoned in and played scalextrix using the buttons on their phone?

I was always amazed at this as at the time our phone was in the kitchen, out of sight of the tv and had a dial :p

Gamesmaster was great. I love watching the last episode of that with all the hilarious moments in.

Used to love Gamezville because it was so bad basically and I ended up on their forums which evolved into it's own community, it's still going in some shape or form.

Violet Berlin also did the Gamepad show in the early 2000s. I don't remember it being that good, only that her chest had inflated since her Bad Influence days. The draw of gaming related TV shows in the 90s was that information was so scarce in those days, but after that they became less relevant and seemed to become more serious too.

@Chojin You are right about information sources.

I've gone full circle though these days. There is so much information that for me its not focused enough, and some advice points to unreliable places on the Internet. So I started subscribing to a computer magazine for the last 2 years (Web User).

The computer programme I watched semi regularly was chips with everything. I remember it had kate russell, and also this tall'ish guy who was some kind of computer geek helping people. I've seen him as a general journalist talking about the news in recent years. How times have changed.

PS. I seem to have been an innocent in my younger years as I'm in a minority of not looking at Violet Berlins chest lol, though on hearing these observations I can concur! lol

There was one on some random channel, mostly just used to have game trailers they made using clips of the game and some music over the top. Usually awesome music as well.

It was mentioned by @willhub

There used to be Games Network or something on Sky?

Games Network was pretty decent to be fair, had some good shows and their MMORPG Legend of Mir was actually quite good too.
