TV wanted, 40"+, 1080P, Freeview HD > £500 thats it.

Yep, any light source behind the screen will work, just keep it perfectly in the middle of the 2 walls for symmetry sake :D

I went to john lewis to have a look at the 49" LG@£499.

Almost seems perfect and could be the one for me.

Just had the Sony delivered from the Co-Op. Initial impressions are very very good. The picture in Cinema mode straight out of the box is very impressive indeed.

For £650?

I've been looking at that one, but then the Android TV models caught my eye and I quite like the idea of that, although realistically I doubt I'd use it much.

H6400, not that I have seen the others, but I love mine.

I saw this one in john lewis it was good but not as as good picture quality compared to the J series but then it was 150-200 quid more! deeper blacks, better contrast, better viewing angles on the J series.

Still they all get the job done end of day but would recommend if you got a budget check the tv out in the store before buying it.

Yeah £650, also ordered a nice glass+oak stand for it.

nice TV checked around the net but seems maybe only JL are doing this one....
if you can find it within a store selling it cheaper worth a price match quote which can be done even after purchase.

I went to order my Samsung off JL 2 weeks ago and just as I got the funds ready whole set is out of stock and has been ever since, even richer is out of stock lol

Well of course the j series will be somewhat better its a 4k tv and why pay more for 4k when the content is not there to view

Even without 4K the J series still has better viewing angles, deeper blacks and nicer contrast. I watched both with just a poor quality digital source looked like freeview digital in Currys.

But yeah the juries still out on 4K when the 4Kblurays arrive in 5 months time guess will see.
