So, it's ok as systems go, but then you can get extra goodies such as a SSD, better graphics card, and a cool case if you do it yourself. Hope I didn't miss anything and skew the results.
So basically, the upcharge is around £150 to have someone else build it for you and overclock. I'm asking about OS as you could have them install it as well
olivier, nope. Don't need to buy one since I get Windows 7 professional free from MSDN.
cmndr, most likely video editing and capturing (from an Intensity Pro). I was going to get the 460 for CUDA but not sure on this in applications such as CS5 (want to learn).
Corsair is still one of the best PSU brand, if not THE best and most consistent, but they tend to be a little bit more expensive. Antec is also a good brand, they make their names with PSUs. Both are Seasonic based (iirc). so are XFX PSU. The HX620 that I have is legendary, and started the arms race for midrange high quality modular PSUs. They are still very much in the game.
The Corsair TX750W is a good PSU. but so is the antec. If anything, 750W is a bit over-specced for your build. A good 600W or 650W PSU will do just fine.
The 460 will be just fine, it's a great card. My point was more about value for money, but that's ok if you want to go with pre-build and not go through the hassle of building it yourself. It's just you won't get the absolute best components for the money.
