US Release Date: July 19, 2024

Starring: Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos

Directed By: Lee Isaac Chung

Synopsis: If you feel it, chase it. Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better. As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

Seems like an utterly pointless remake. (and it is a remake, the director confirmed it) And the kicker is that 20 years later none of the set pieces in the trailer look any more exciting or impressive than the original movie! Sure the particle system looks slightly better but they've done nothing to come up with imaginative uses for it.

The iconic castalong with a brilliant score just made that film, and it will be hard to come close to it really. I hope this film is still received well as the trailer looks decent enough.

If I recall correctly, back during release Twister was rated as one of the loudest films ever made. I may just do a IMAX Waterloo for this film!

Jesus that looks dog excrement. I don't understand the logic of how this got green lit.

Let's remake a classic and target it at the people who already love it to cream of their cash using remember berries.

I'm calling it now 2/10 at best.

Nope.

Just like Robocop, Total Recall and every other "modern remake" I've seen, I don't think that this will be a patch on the original. The writing won't have the heart or "realness" to the characters required, the acting won't be anywhere near as good (I only know of Glenn Powell), and just the overall quality of the film I think will be far lower.

The only thing better will be the CGI, thats it, and thats not enough for me. However, it'll still probably pack out the cinemas as a summer blockbuster, lets say $500m as a first impression guess based on the trailer and the IP.

That scene wouldn’t be the same without PSH. He bossed it.

Always wondered why an elderly single woman had about 20Kgs of steak in her fridge though!
I did love that exchange between Rabbit and Meg.
"God Meg, you've got a lot of beef. Where'd you get all this beef?"
"Did you see my cows out front?"
"No"
Comedic shocked sound.

The new trailer -

Still a very, very hard nope from me. I think it looks worse than I did initially and I think the clearly BS statements being parroted out by the cast and crew of "this is an original story" etc is proven false by the trailer as you've got Dorothy from the 1st film in there!
