Twitter : Being Offensive

If you stand in the middle of the street swearing at people you can be arrested and cautioned, similar thing.

I think the issue with the comment in question is that the guy himself received death threats before upping his insults... which y'know, how much is kidish bullying?

Go do some research. Threats, trolling, etc. on social networks against non celebrities has been dealt with by the police a few times.

example: trolling a dead girls facebook page.

I've also seen school bullying\threats and social networking general threats come up now and again in the news, Involving the police

^ This.

Malicious trolling is just another form of bullying, pure and simple. Physical bullying is carried out by those who find safety in numbers and trolling is carried out by those who find safety in the perceived anonymity of the internet.

The fact that that anonymity is now being lifted can only be a positive: I've always said the world wide web is the greatest revolution in communication since the invention of the telephone - unfortunately, ease of access means that there are a lot of inadequate nutjobs who think that it gives them a platform for their bile and hatred.

This tool should have had his internet access taken away for a year as punishment, in the same manner that a motorist has his licence taken away for a period of time. I notice he was tweeting from an iPhone - if what the papers are saying is true (who the hell knows these days), he's 17 and unemployed, then how has he a) got a bloody iPhone and b) internet access anyway? Both being provided by the taxes the rest of us pay no doubt?

Oh, and of course, just to keep the touchy-feely mob happy, the poor dear has ADHD ... another excuse to justify bad behaviour that nobody had heard of 30 years ago.
