Two days/one night in Singapore enough?

I'd highly recommend spending a day (and evening) at the night zoo - hands down the best zoo i've ever been to anywhere in the world.

The night zoo however is on a different level, its almost pitch black throughout with only minimal path lighting so you get to see all the animals when they are most active. Walking through the flying squirrel enclosure (well, hanging around in there for a few min) and watching them chase each other around, gliding from tree to tree swooping over your head is amazing

This one speaks the truth :) We caught a bus to the zoo area (it's not in the city) first thing in the morning, around 8 or 9AM, did the zoo, then the water zoo (forget what it's called), ran out of time to do the birds zoo and then did the night zoo. All of it was incredible and took the entire day (literally). The only problem is the sheer unprofessionalism of the nimrods organising the buses back at night. I ended up sat on the steps of the bus (as it was that or an hour wait). Next time I think I'd get a taxi or something!

We're flying with Singapore all the way apart from Brisbane to Auckland. But I think we only get an A380 on the way back, boo :(

I'm flying with them from Manchester->Singapore->Sydney and then Perth->Singapore->Manchester and there isn't a single A380 in there, so count yourself lucky you've got one ;)

Have you checked their stopover packages for hotels and attraction passes?

I'm flying A380 all the way with emirates, I need to find the best cattle class seats to choose though, i've pencil marked the front cabin just in front of the wings for photography purposes, debating buying a gopro to stick to the window to film take off and landing too.

Anyone with more experience of the a380 care to share their views on best seats in cattle class?

We normally stay here as it's a great, central location and a wonderful hotel.

It's not the cheapest by a long way but for 2 or 3 days it's a great place to stay.
Thanks for the recommendation. The Pan Pacific isn't quite on the Bay is it?

We're looking at hotels now, I'm thinking we're going to treat ourselves as we have saved a bit more and I've had some good news for work (I should also be able to get corporate rate). Any others that people would recommend? Looking at the Fullerton, Fullerton Bay, Pan Pacific, Ritz-Carlton etc. Something a bit special.. I've heard it's worth staying around the bay as it's nice on an evening.

Thanks..

I stayed at the Shangri La in Singapore, it was really nice; Great pools and The Line restaurant was very good.
Although we only ate there one night, we had breakfast in there on several occasions.

The cocktail lounge (Horizon) was really nice too.

I think we had 2 nights and 2.5 days which was enough to get the flavour of the place, but I would love to go back for longer.

Since going to Singapore it really makes me laugh when people say "going to Singapore for 2-3 days, is that too long?". We also had a lot of comments from people saying why on earth would you want to go there, there's nothing to do! How wrong can you be.

Spent 8 days in Singapore last year, would like to go back as there was loads to do there. If you are only there for the day, then the one thing I would say you absolutely must do is the Zoo, both the zoo and night safari's are excellent - we got there really early and had breakfast with orangutans, spent most of the day at the zoo, popped out to the river safari, grabbed some food and then did the night safari. It's a long day but easily worth it. Not sure if they still do it, but we also had a ride on an Elephant for all of £1 I think.

I don't think anyones mentioned it buy you have also got Sentosa which has a Universal park and few other bits and pieces to do, but it is very touristy, the cable car between Singapore and the island is quite cool though.

We stayed at the Oasia which is a little out of the way, but is literally on top of a MTR stop so makes it easy enough to get to the main bits. Was a really nice hotel though for very reasonable rates.

The Shangri-La seems a bit out of the way (probably not true, mind). How did you find it getting around?

And don't worry Jano, we have 3 full days in Singapore :)

Pretty much everywhere in Singapore is 10-15 mins tops from an MRT, its very easy to get around wherever you are really.

If you get a chance, the Maxwell Road hawker centre is a great place to eat, went there every night for food!
