Poll: Type or swipe?

Ever since I started to swipe, I find it feels a bit awkward to type; all that tippy tappy stuff does my head in, watching some folks furiously blur thumbing a Facebook rant is an affront to my eyes and ears. An unscientific poll of work colleagues has revealed I'm the only swiper in the crew.

Do you type or swipe?

Swiping doesn't work all that well in my experience. It's mainly a pain because - with SwiftKey at least - you only get a single recommended word above while swiping as opposed to 3 while typing.

I've actually started that with my Pixel 6 as the Assistant is much improved, but not really feasible unless alone. I think I'll use it more with WhatsApp when I'm out walking etc.

I started off with SwiftKey but found Gboard much better.

I can't get on with swiping, typing seems far faster and more accurate for me, but that may be because I took typing lessons and swiping always feels like I'm fighting the device to get the word I want, and not what it expects.

Moving house in the next few days so had the wonderful task of taking my antenna down (I am really not fond of heights!). I think once we're in the new place I'll be calling someone out to fit it higher up on a longer pole, as well as using a better cable as currently I have a really long and cheap cable which isn't going to be doing me any favours for signal loss. So once I'm back on will be a much better setup. Planning to use a Pi Zero W in the loft to run it, rather than running the cable some 20M around the house.

Sometimes I swipe but usually end up having to manually choose the word I want or have to delete and re-swipe.

if i want to write anything of length, i ditch the touchscreen and use a computer.
