Type R Showdown

On topic, DC2 and EK9 all the way. newer type r's def lack the rawness of pre i-vtec lumps. ATR is a kinda neither here nor there best all rounder id say.

There is little doubt though that the K series is the engine of choice.

The older cars are rawer yes....but its not the engine its the build of the car which makes it so "raw"

Id rsay rawer engine style.

VTEC has more kick in earlier cars....

But yes, the newer ones would have more power across the range.

Its the classic fear of the diesel cars syndrome. I still drive a ep3 now chaps, and imprezza. Think i can tell how quick summit is in comparison.

All i say is youve been warned.

I have no fear of diesel, its a wonderful fuelstuff. Many wonderful cars are powered by it.

However, its not rocket fuel.

How do you explain Hondas figures being 2seconds+ slower than you claim?

And how come you own an Impreza yet can't spell it?

;)

LOL!
Also:
The CRX Del Sol had a apprently unachievable 0-60 time when the thing was released. All the press and that couldnt get it to the quoted time on the press release day.
Out walks Mr.Stigisan(stigs cousin of course) and floors the thing, changing gears without the clutch. Gets the 0-60 bang on.
So id beleive honda's figures:)

LMFAO :D

As I said in the new Scooby thread - torque is deceiving. The new Scoob felt easily twice as fast as my DC5, brutal acceleration, but in reality it was only the same, maybe even a little slower.

Torque and power delivery are very deceiving.

the weird thing about torque is as you said, you think OMG.. but in reality... its a very different story.

When I took out the ST150 fiesta, I was pretty appauled at its performance (I didnt know the figures) but actually its not to bad... power delivery was as smooth as any car I have ever driven.

On the flip side, when I took out a vvtli 190 celica, you hit the point where the engine went mad, and you felt like an f16 had suddenly started to tow you, and some evil pixie had kicked the tacho

iirc in this vid on the end selection of bookmarks on the right, he goes round the ring in an s2k, and comments about it being similar to an nsx round there

Round Nurb maybe, but you can see it getting well and truly whooped on track.

As for the videos - little clips dont take the ***, virtually full rips do. Let's not push our luck with the mods eh... ;)
