So, I lent my car to the sister in law and this happened.

The alloy is a mess so pretty ****** off but will the tyre need replacing? I would assume so but I'm not sure how thick sidewalls are...

Thanks in advance.

I hope you're expecting her to pay for it to be fixed. tyre and alloy repair combined must be £100 at least.

If so I'd take the old tyre once replaced and stick it firmly up her backside!
She's offered to pay for the tyre but doesn't remember hitting a curb. The tyres are only about 6 months old but it's the alloys I'm more wound up about!

It's his sister in law. She's family. Forgive and forget. If she offers something towards it then fair enough. Otherwise no issues?

I bet you've invoiced your mum if she's ever asked you to buy a pint of milk :p

I'd expect the first words out of my family or a good friends mouth would be "Sorry had a bit of an accident get it sorted and send me the bill" that's not exactly a quid for a bottle of milk is it.

Quite.

I'd be pretty ****ed if I were in this situation and she was denying any knowledge or refusing to pay for it to be fixed. Family or not. In many ways the fact she's family would just annoy me further!

Not so bad then... :)

But if she doesn't then that is an issue, doesn't matter if they're family or not you don't expect to do someone a favour and lend them something and it cost you a hundred quid do you?

TBF a lot of people can drive along hit a curb and not realise. My Nan is the worst for this, obvisuouly shes a bit older but she drive a long and in 20 minutes graze/hit a curb once or twice. Genuinely surprsised she has any tire/alloy left. Then when you question she tells you you're being stupid. My entire family try and avoid getting in the car with her :P

Atleast she has offered to cover the tire cost, may not be the whole damage. What baffles me is someone can deny doing that kind of damage haha. Notice to self if i ever lend my car out, take photos of everything first haha

I'd say it's the rim protector doing its job (not well enough it seems) and the tire is fine to use, they put extra rubber there for that exact reason
