Tyres have had a hard life!

Great site that, interesting that the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx came out above the F1's, just replaced my tyres on the rear with F1's and i can't rate them high enough in both wet and dry conditions.

They are Potenza RE040, I must say I can't fault them. They are a unqiue compound for the VX220 though.

Eidolon - Unless you change alloys you don't really have any choice ;)

The only tried and test choices on the 16/17 alloys are T1R (mixed reviews) A048 (superb grip, less good in standing water, very expensive and extremely quick wear rate) R888 (much the same as the Yokos, but maybe slightly better wear).

There aren't really any complaints about the RE040, except they don't do a 195 profile front.

I went for T1Rs on mine in the end, I must say I'm very[i/] impressed with them so far. Haven't tried them in the wet yet though.

The RE040's eidolon has (and I used to have) are shocking in the wet. Bad grip, rubbish under acceleration and dire under braking.

Dry warm roads though - great, nice feel, plenty of grip.

I know there are a few different compounds on the 040 though - certianly the jap 040 is different to the EU 040, didn't know the VX had it's own 040 flavour but doesn't surprise me at all.

I changed to 010's - same price, but I think they're just softer compounds so much better in the wet, and you dont need to light them up in the dry to get them to bite. Doubt they'll last as long as the 040's but I dont really give a fig - just want something I can be confident with & the 040's made me nervous.

Muncher, get some decent tyres, like toyo 888's and try them...

They will be bald in one good track day

:D
