As per title guys, any one any experience of it? Its not horrendous but it is noticeable to me and I am fussy! Does it have a tendency to improve or get worse with use?

From tftcentral:

Backlight Leakage

Backlight leakage refers to the problem some screens exhibit where in a darkly lit room, and with a dark image on the screen, you can clearly see areas particularly around the edges where the backlight shines through. This is a problem with the manufacturing stage and quality of the monitor build. A lot of panels will show slightly uneven backlighting, with perhaps a little light noticeable at the edges of the screen or in the corners. This is nothing really to worry about, but panel uniformity can vary from one screen to the next. Some screens on the other hand show far more severe and distracting bleed and often a return to the manufacturer is the only option for the buyer.

I'm returning a monitor due to backlight bleed. I don't believe that there should be anything particularly noticeable when forking out a few hundred quid on a monitor. I've read that some monitors' bleed stays the same, some gets worse and some get better so it's just pot luck. I don't think being unhappy with noticeable backlight bleed is being fussy at all. Your eyes are the ones that are going to be drawn to it every time you look at a dark image on the screen so if it's annoying to you, return it. Unfortunately, it's quite subjective as to whether it's seen as a fault by the retailer.

Well prepare to spend the next year or so returning monitors because most LED screens have uniformity problems... Pretty much all of them have some amount of backlight bleed in a dark room.... I went through about 10 different LED TV's before eventually just accepting that they all have it to some degree... It is a downside of the LED technology due to how close the light is to the screen you get bad uniformity such as leakage, clouding, banding etc. unfortunately.

If you get one that is reasonable and not really noticable unless you are looking for it then just keep it because chances are the one you replace it for will be just as bad or worse unless it is really bad.

I understand what you're saying and if the monitor is very cheap or B-grade, it would be more acceptable but when forking out over £400 on a screen, I personally don't think we should be accepting them.

It's clear that not all monitors have this issue but also evident that the monitors aren't checked after they are built but if they are, the screens that exhibit BLB aren't rejected. This is just poor quality control and also shows that they expect some consumers accept a level of defect. Again, I don't think we should accept this. If we do, the manufacturers will continue to 'pass' monitors that aren't properly built and we'll continue to gamble when hitting the 'buy' button.

This is just my opinion though :)

Just bought a u2412m myself and it arrived today. I was impressed with how the screen looked, but the backlight bleeding is annoying me as I can see it when watching movies, etc.

Here's a pic I took in the dark, monitor is at 50% brightness:

I've ordered a second one from OcUK for my dual setup anyway, I'll see what the second screen is like.

Mines very similar, brightness reduced to 35% now. I think i will probably keep it, might buy another 2560x1440 next year.

I received my screen today and have backlight bleeding of varying intensity in all four corners. It's the only downside to this monitor. I'm thinking of returning but wondering if it'll be worth the hassle. :(

I got this monitor Saturday and it has bad bleeding at 3 of the corners, I did an rma today to get a replacement hopefully better, the guy I spoke to on the phone didn't sound to happy about it either.

Maybe non but if the replacement comes the same so long as they accept the rma then that will go back aswell and will get something different.

what success are people getting with replacement?
i have 2, a rev a0 that's fine but the rev a04 has got bleeding
not sure to send it back or not and maybe get something worse as a replacement

the dell 2405 i have been using for the last few years has been faultless its disappointing that newer monitors don't have the same quality control

To be fair mine really isn't that bad so I never tried to send it back. I have seen a lot worse. It just grated on me at first as I am a bit like that. I am still looking to get another screen at some point though, I am missing 2560x1440 but the U2711's anti glare was too much for me to take in the end so I am thinking about the Asus alternative.

I rma,d mine and I got it accepted with no problems they sent a new one within a couple of days. Which I might add is miles better than the first one only a little bleed from the right corner which to me is acceptable because they do say you should expect to have a little bleed with ips led back lite monitors.

So up to you fella pot luck I guess I got lucky the second time.
