Uber eats do you ever tip

I also don't tip.
So many jobs don't have the option of tips.
I get it in countries with terrible minimum wages. But not here.

I'm not really sure what "great" service would look like from a delivery driver?
I'd rather tip the person who made the pizza if its particularly good.

Ubereats rider/drivers don’t get the minimum wage. Only Uber drivers do - and only when they have accepted a trip.

Nope, the only time I tip is if we go out for dinner and they have a youngster waiting on tables and by youngster still at school. Everyone needs money for panni football stickers are spice at their age.

I tipped one time when I ordered a bottle of whisky at 9pm one Saturday night when I was bored sitting in looking after my sleeping 1 year old.

Disclaimer: I only had a couple of measures but had no alcohol in and fancied some.

I've never used uber eat or any of the other takeaway wotzits. But ordering direct I haven't given tips for takeaway in a long time.

Tbf its a minimum wage job isn't it?
Nope, no need to pay them minimum wage.
Local McDonalds is a 12 min cycle from me. Delivery fee is £2.79. So, they have to cycle from where they are, wait for the food and then bring it to me. Probably 30 minutes of time. For £2.79. How could it be minimum wage?
I appreciate Uber may top up their wages so the driver isn’t just getting the delivery fee but there’s no chance many of them are making minimum wage consistently.

always a couple of quid, a takeaway costs like 500% more than a supermarket/homemade etc meal anyway so any thoughts on savings are long gone

and I live on the top floor of flats with no lift so feel guilty :p

Fair enough so it's gig economy stuff then? I've only ordered once and they turned up in some beaten up old diesel. Hard to imagine that is viable now.

Just checked the JE app and, for the exact same order, prices have went up 17.5% since the same point last year.

I think they need to look at how they calculate inflation because it feels like everything I buy has went up significantly more than 9% :(

I usually tip, always throw in an advanced tip if I'm making them come up the stairs, I can just buzz them into the building etc.. Maybe not so much if the delivery fee is already hefty and I'm going to walk down and meet by the building's front door.

Because inflation is reflective of a stupid measure of averages rather than the things which people buy most often.

"Real" inflation is significantly higher than 9%
