UCAS applicants this year

WOO! Just checked and got a conditional offer from portsmouth (my no1 choice) to do physical geography.

They want me to get 280 points but I'm only doing two A levels and since I'm predicted C's for both, there's no way I'm getting 280 :(

I can get 240 but 280 is nigh on impossible.

sent mine off on the 11th or so of december...got 4 out of 5 replies so far

Manchester - Unsuccesful (:()
Nottingham - BBB (conditional)
Sheffield - Open Day/Informal Interview invite
Leicester - CCC
Newcastle - Still waiting

Sent mine off 2nd October

All unis have replied.

Bristol: Acceptance letter after my interview but no offer yet
Southampton: AAB
Imperial: Acceptance letter after my interview but no offer yet
Bath: AAA
Loughborough: Interview or UCAS form, I adopted for the latter.

To study aerospatial engineering.

Im applying for same course/same unis, sent mine off early December but due to a slow tutor and Christmas didnt get sent till the 2nd of Jan, no offers yet.

Ta. Saw your interview thread so glad that went well. Was reading your part of the thread and was going to reply but now am replying here instead.

Do you get grade offers for music, or do they just take you if they like you, so to speak?

Mixture really, I got conditionals from Portsmouth and Leeds Met, but LCM, Coventry and Surrey all want interviews. Possibly because they're the better 3 for my course.
They want to meet me, know what my weaknesses and strengths are and hear my portfolio. There was a lot of critical stuff said to me which was a bit upsetting but I took it as advice to work on - suppose they can't say that they like something cos then that gives hints etc..

Even more reason to go - it is practice, because I guarantee a future employer won't give you a job without an interview. At least, not a very good one ;)

It's 10 years now since I went for uni interviews and I still hate them, I don't really find the practice much help :). It seems to be more luck as to how the interview is structured and whether I hit it off with the other person as to how well my interviews go.

Got another offer! this time from aberystwyth (spelling ok?).

They want a C in geography which I already have since I did it last year, but also for me to have 300 ucas points :( which if you read my last post is impossible >< Dammit!

Apparently they have the highest student satisfaction rating in the country O_o

Although judging by what you just said it's a load of cobblers :p

Still I'm aiming for portsmouth if they'll accept the 220 points with 2 A levels at C grade that I'm gunna get realistically rather than the 280 points they're asking :(

I would, because it got me an unconditional offer at Bristol.

What sort of things did they ask you? How did you dress and did you need to take examples of work or did they just want to see what you were like?

Sorry I just want to know what happens with these interviews and how formal it is :p

Haha, wow that must have been amazing. Did you do the expected 'do no work and just pass summer exams' or did you still try your best nonetheless?

It was an informal event where we had snacks, drinks and showcases of the technologies developed in the faculty at Bristol. I got on very well with the head of the faculty and we had a long discussion about wearable computing (an area he was researching at the time). I left a very good impression and got the offer.

If you read my other posts about exams I'm a lazy git and do no revision for them, bar the night before the test, but still got AAAB anyway.

It was a huge relief to get an unconditional offer and if I'm honest I think the lack of pressure is why I still managed to do well.

This was a very informal event so I had jeans and a nice T-shirt on. I looked smart but very much in my casual attire. It wasn't a formal interview but I'd highly recommend going to one if offered the chance as it gives you the opportunity to leave a great impression.

Same happened to me a couple of years ago (Engineering at Oxford) - I'm glad it turned out this way as the University I'm at now (Sheffield) is absolutely brilliant :)

What course are you doing at Sheffield? I am now planning on taking up offer at Sheffield (ABB <-- less pressure on exams also than Cambridge) for Electrical Engineering. Have some mates in the year above there now and they absolutely love the place.

Just come home from my Coventry interview.
Loved it there, follow kitted out with 30 brand new iMacs and I didn't count how many pc's - there were two towers per pc though?!?!

Interview went well, really friendly people so I want to go there now!
