UCAS applicants this year

But doesn't a bad interview equal no offer? Or do you get an offer, but a good interview improves it, with no chance of it getting worse/being removed?

We didn't go through this at school, so I don't know.

Well if you act like an idiot then it will probably effect your chances. Otherwise, I guess it can only be beneficial. Only a guess though buddy.

Would be great to hear from someone that holds these types of interviews.

mine's not long gone off

i got a letter from Leeds yesterday, asking me to come for an interview (chemistry)

i've friends with sets of offers though, but they sent theirs off before mine =p

and, typically, a good interview = a lower offer ;)

I don't get what you mean here. I see it as your saying i go to an interview and it goes well, im less likely to get an offer ?!

Are you using drugs?
Don't worry he means if you go to an interview and it goes well they will allow you to get into the University with easier grades to achieve - ie lower

Computer Science:

Warwick - AAB without interview
York - AAB with formal interview
Bristol - AAB with informal interview
Durham - Cancelled interview as it's my least favourite of my five
Cambridge - Interviews this Friday

Why would you opt out? By going along you get the chance to let them know about yourself and presumably stand a chance of reducing your offer. More importantly you get to talk to someone who will probably be involved in your course later on. It would be silly to avoid going along just because you're "scared of the interview". If they've offered you a place before the interview then they won't chance their minds after meeting you (you'd have to do something very silly!)

Some people just don't like interview type situations and get very stressed about it. There's plenty of highly intelligent yet socially inept teenagers around who know they can easily get the grades to land a spot in a decent uni, they don't need to try and persuade them to hand out a low offer.

Can't remember if I had any proper interviews, although I do remember having a chat with my future tutor. My first choice uni was ABB and my emergency backup was 24pts+ (old system - equates to BBB, ABC or AAD).

All the more reason to go along and try to cure your fear, everyone needs to have an interview eventually. I was exactly the same a few years ago but the only way to improve is to confront uncomfortable situations, not to avoid them.

i havent applied yet but i dont get how it works, do you apply via ucas over the website or is there a paper method or what :o

Sent mine off last month - got offers on all 3 courses :)

Computer and Network Technology - Northumbria

Computer Forensics - Northumbria

Something to do with networking and telecommunications at Sunderland - I forget

I need 240 ucas points - 3 C's which I doubt I will get though :(

No one applying to Bangor? :(

Put Bangor down as our insurance and you are near enough guaranteed to get in aslong as you pass.

My short story...

I put it down as my insurance, first was Loughborough.

Got rejected by Loughborough, but i got accepted to Bangor after a quick 10min chat to the admin tutor on the ole dog and bone.

They wanted BCC (B in Chem, other science or maths for others) to do MChem I got D (Bio), E (Chem), E (Phy AS), B (General studies AS) and they let me onto the Bsc Chem course. :)

And now im destoying uni chemistry. :D

How come it's a nightmare?

It's won't really be a nightmare, don't worry! (I was joking!) Just the workload will be insane and on a CompSci degree there will be lots of weird folk (especially at the 'Bridge ;))!

Yes, I am fully aware there are lots of weirdos on all courses everywhere. :D

Don't be silly, it's fun here! Which college? There's lots and lots of interview people around here at the moment!

I did actually have a good time there. Really nice city and I was staying in Sidney Sussex which was a really impressive college. I found I didn't like the subject I was there doing as much as I thought (Physics) and that put me off the work and in doing so put me off the place a bit. :)
