Thomas Tuchel effect. Their team on paper is easily as good as the best in the prem. Bayern with Klopp or Pep would be winning this comp.
Had they performed better in the CL in the 2 seasons prior to Tuchel arriving then maybe you'd have a point but they didn't.
Their defence and central midfield really isn't very good. They've got a great keeper and front line but this isn't a great Bayern squad.

Their defenders are all expensive and top tier. They might not be performing but De Ligt, Upamecano, Davies and Kim were all expensive buys.
Harry Maguire was more expensive than all of them. What's your point? Kim looked good at Napoli but the fact he's being kept out of the side by Dier tells you a lot. Neither De Ligt nor Upamecano have lived up to their hype. None of them get near the Liverpool, City or Arsenal side.
