I think this season has to be largely a write off. If we get into Europe, great. If we don't then so be it. A year not playing more than one game a week might not be the worst thing.
He'll be gone if you don't get into any European competition, hell I think there's a 50/50 he'll get the boot if you don't get a cl spot

You must be joking? If the club expect him to get into the CL with this squad, then we're doomed.

If he was appointed at the start of the summer that might have been a more realistic target. The club have caused this mess by keeping ETH.

Not at all, its widely reported you guys really need to qualify for the CL this time round following the failure to do it last year to help the balance sheets. Given how sack happy ineos have been at Nice I think theres a chance he'll get the boot if you don't do it this season and a 100% chance he'll be gone if you don't hit any European places.

INEOS have also acknowledged everything at the club is pretty 'average' (at best) and it's going to take time to fix. Bringing in a manager for the busiest part of the season, knowing he will be trying to implement a totally new style with limited time, means surely they'll be judging him from the start of next season.

I don't think there are really any targets for this season, the decision to keep ETH meant it was likely to be a write-off from the start.

Of course he won't He will get this season and probably at least next season if he shows signs of changing things at the club. What they won't do is stick with him if, after 2 years he hasn't shown any signs of being on track to take us towards the top of pile again.

If they cared that much about CL they would have brought in a short term-ist manager and told him to get results. Not a manager who has a completely different style which will require time to bed in and who is being asked to do this in the middle of a packed season with a team that doesn't suit his play style.

We'll see come the end of the season I suppose.

What 'short term managers' are available?

He was a panic appointment, the season was going straight down the crapper. if he was really 'the one' they wanted then ten hag wouldn't have been given a contract extension and 200million to spend in the summer.

I don't think he was a panic appointment, I think the summer wasn't really ideal timing as the new executives didn't start until mid-July. They clearly botched the ETH decision but we don't know exactly what happened there.

Amorim is apparently Berrada's choice as the CEO, and he pretty decisively went after him the same day ETH was sacked. Berrada seems to have very different ideas to the likes of Ashworth who favour the more traditional FA-style approach (English managers, etc).

So you think we need CL for finances but you also think we'll happily sell and pay off Amorim if we don't make it...

Given how you gave ten hag a contract extension, spanked 200mill on players he wanted. Paid for ashworth then sacked him a few months later... yes
So your evidence for us having to make a decision based on finances is highlighting a bunch of other decisions where the driving factor wasn't finances?

Well for a start I said it was 50/50 chance, given how reactive ineos have been at Nice and how you were only 4 points off top 4 when amorim took over I think there's a chance he will be gone should you fail to qualify for the cl.

Is it a top 6 squad?

Yes easily. We need a left back/wingback in January and that is the only issue.

Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have better squads then we do but I would say we have on par or better than anyone else. We currently have the third best defence in the league despite being down in 13th. We just need to start scoring goals.

Amorim has to get Hojlund banging in goals and get the wide players performing.

I am a bit worried but I haven't seen a dominant performance yet like it would suggest he will bring despite being in the job a month now with games coming thick and fast.
