UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 16th Sept 2021]

Most great players do hit the ground running.

Ronaldo, 2 goals on 2nd debut, zlatan, goal on debut.

Rooney, hattrick on debut.

Bruno won MOTM on his debut vs Wolves.

Sancho has played 3 full seasons for dortmund and we paid a fee if nearly 80m. I would expect much much more.

You just like to look at the ones you want to. Andy Cole as an example had a really shakey start for us but then got going good.

Sancho might be English but he's never played top tier English football. You might as well be signing a foreigner so he has to be given time. Not every players kicks on immediately.

The AWB red for whoever hasn't seen it. I havent seen one post on red cafe saying it wasnt a red and most united fans on twitter are saying its a red so of course someone on here says it isn't. Thats a horrible challenge.

I think its a red for the outcome rather than the intent or anything else. You would genuinely have 10 reds a game if every tackle went as badly as it could. Thats all that happened there. He was a split second late and the guy uses the wrong foot to go for the ball. Its bad luck and ends up as a nasty collision but most tackles could result in that outcome with bad enough luck.

I was speaking to my mate about this today, he reckons that it’s purely down to him playing in Germany then rattled off Kagawa and Micky as players who looked great there but just can’t cut it.

Kagawa wasn't bad for us, we just tried to change him to a winger when he was a 10. When he actually played in his role he looked great. Mkhi suffered from badly timed injuries. He was good at times but also poor at times.

I think it was a red, but a needless one.

Who goes in for a challenge like that at 1-0 near their 18 yard box, in a pointless needless tackle.

I know we're a man down, but handing all of the initiative to the other team doesn't seem wise, especially when they aren't great.

It isn’t and it’s just showed. There was no need to change that defence so radically. Questioned it at the time…really don’t get that.
