UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 20th April 2023]

I've watched Chelsea a few times recently and I don't think they are far off. Most of the players are excellent technically and at times they move the ball well but it falls apart in the penalty area where they are clueless. Havertz is tidy but that's not good enough at this level. I don't see too many of them that have the winning mentality but that can be worked on with the right coach. Next season will be interesting, They certainly won't be this poor again. Will they?

Chelsea struggling for goals and need to score a few to have a chance at going through so Frank's gone with a defensive lineup.

They'll most likely go out with a whimper so its the Napoli game on the main screen for me.
I saw the lineup pre-kickoff and thought he's only got himself to blame there. 3 CBs and a false 9 up front.

If away goals were still in operation, then I would kind of get it, the idea would be to keep it tight on the basis that if you concede then even 3 goals sees you knocked out. But with away goals scrapped you have to grab the bull by the horns, you've had £600m of talent brought in this season the least you can do it have a go at them, if you get hammered then so be it, their season is over anyway. It's not like they are pushing for CL football and need to be worried about psychological damage from getting thrashed, their entire season was riding on this one game. He's an interim manager who just joined so he also doesn't need to have the fear factor about a heavy defeat in the way Potter would have done.
