UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 24th October 2024]

Well, got to say, I thought that Ben Sesko would give us more of a runabout, show how defiant he can be, but he simply disappeared down a wormhole in this game

Good classic European away win that, should have had a pen and both keepers made some decent saves. Konate and Gravey both really good, with Konate motm.

Slow start and nervy(ish) end to the game but overall we played really well and should have won by 2 or 3. I've no idea what the VAR (and ref) was drinking with the Nunez non penalty - what on earth needed to happen for that to be a penalty? And I get why they do it but the delayed offside flags don't half change the narrative of games. The commentators going on about Openda's offside goals as if the only reason those chances came about wasn't because he was stood miles offside to begin with.

Anyway that was a big 3 points and gives us some margin for error going into the next two vs Leverkusen & Real, particularly with (on paper) 3 easier games to come after that.

It seems as if it wasn't just the ref and VAR in our game who are partially sighted. Lille were awarded a penalty for handball to go 2-1 up vs Atletico, the only issue was it was the Lille player that handles the ball, not the Atletico player :D The VAR must have been on a break.

Some tricky players in that Fenerbahce side, and of course Jose. Expecting us to lose, but to be honest that's the case for most games nowadays.

Could well be a lively game though...

Just seen the highlights. They really need to explain why we didn't get a penalty for the Nunez one as that's so blatant.
They were saying not to use slow mo unless necessary which means watching at real time it could be interpreted that the defender stopped their leg so there was less contact regardless they won so justice is served
