UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 24th October 2024]

I think in a normal situation it wouldn't be a bad result, however...

ETH set the team up to not lose, from minute one we were under pressure and a better side would have probably scored at least a couple of goals.

It's just yet another bleak performance, ETH is in self-preservation mode - he has no clue how to improve things.

Pleased to see ETH’s plan is working. We’re 21st in the Europa League table and 12th in the PL. Living the dream.

The erosion of standards is almost complete, we've failed to win a single European game for over a year and people are trying to find positives.

Agreed but can we realistically expect much better with the players that started? As I said before we have a mix of old, young and cast-offs, all average at best, we don't have a VVD, a Salah, a Rodri, a Palmer.

We have Zirkzee, lol. And we bring on Antony. Mazaroui up top... ETH mastermind.
Just a few hundred million so yes you can.

That brief spell against Brentford is evidence of what is possible if the squad are up for it and firing. On form, Garnacho, Bruno, Hojlund, Rashford, etc are all capable of causing problems for any team, but they need to be aggressive and on the front foot. The squad is not brilliant but it's currently playing at about 20% of its ability.

The players all look confused and have done for a long time now, that is purely down to the manager and his staff. Any half decent manager can drill the basics into the players and there isn't even any evidence of that happening here. It's quite frankly a shambles.

People can blame the 'structure', and rightly so - but look at what Emery has achieved with Villa in a similar period of time. He's also improved their existing players. ETH has been backed to the tune of half a billion, bringing in players he actually wants, yet we just continue to get worse.

Spurs have won 3 out of 3....and that's with Werner on the pitch and 8 changes from Sunday. Mikey Moore looks a real talent, pretty sure he cemented his position as a back up to Son currently.

Nacho and Hoj are young/inexperienced so we can't rely on them/they won't be consistent.

Bruno has been carrying the team for years. Rashford performs once every 4 seasons.

Still not seeing it. Not to mention the team is relying on a 35 year old Evans at the back.

I've no doubt they can do better, how much better is the question.

Was just discussing Moore at work, looks like the real deal if he can kick on.

Like a cross between martinelli and saka.
