UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 9th March 2023]

Nah, Harry Kane is absolute quality. Spurs are just Spurs. Even if hes not scoring goals his hold up and build up play are brilliant. Only reason I wouldn't want him at United is his age and the fee that Spurs would want despite the length of his contract. I reckon he will be off this summer one way or another. Bayern are apparently interested.

They would have a crazy squad with him in it. Thats the last thing they need. Chupa Moting is bang average but Bayern are so good that he actually looks half decent in that team.

Anyway, onto the real premier European competition tonight. Will be interesting to see if he changes the team much from the last game. The players have had a week off so they should be nice and fresh.

If we get bought out by Qatari's the price of Kane will be irrelevant but I do agree the ship has sailed with him.

I reckon he will for for about £60m. Levy will probably sell him abroad if possible. You would be mad to pay £100m for him with so little time on his contract. Boely though...

I understand his contract is running out and his age but when the likes of Antony and Mudryk are costing 80mil plus there is no way Spurs highest ever goal scorer goes for 60 mil.

Who is going to pay £100m for a player who will be free the following summer? Antony and Mudryk were bought for their potential/desperation and weren't about to be free agents. Kane is a known quantity (a good one obviously) but hes probably peaked and has a year left on his contract. You would have to be mad to spend £100m on him and Levy would have to be mad to keep him for one more year and let him leave on a free.

Spurs are fundamentally going to really struggle for top 4 next season barring a miracle. I can't see Liverpool and Chelsea having this seasons issues and Newcastle will probably strengthen a lot this summer. They could be fighting for top 6 let alone top 4. Kane would help that cause but they could reinvest the money from his sale for the future rather than a single season hail mary.

What a horrible picture to prove a point lmao. It was a bang average header.
Didn't say it wasn't but it was definitely not directly at the keeper as you so claimed. The ball went to the left of the goal (from our view, not the keepers). The keeper was in the middle of the goal, then dived to the right, fully extended and pushed the ball out to the side. I know I'm being pedantic but still

If they keep him he'll still perform and if they get in the right manager (looking like it could be Poch) then a stronger season of potentially a cup and top 4 finish could see him convinced to sign once more. That risk I feel is more ideal to Levy than a relatively scrappy 60m.

So, Man Utd fans, what we saying. Was the defeat at Liverpool a freak one off, and we will be back to our current form for tonights game? I hope it was a one off, and that we can produce some sort of organised performance tonight and top it off with a convincing win.

Kane could leave on a free at 31
Join City and have 3 Premier League Medals at 34 easy really

That's never happening unless Haaland leaves, and joining them right at the end of his career when they're shrouded in controversy just to add some trophies to his name looks plastic as ****.

City's only chance of winning 3 on the trot is this season. The top of the league is about to get a lot more difficult.

We’ll be fine. It was just one of those nights we seem to have these days, where if we lose, we lose bad.
However, if we lose this one, or down tools like the other night, I may shed a tear.

Knowing Kanes luck, he will Join City just as they get relegated for their flagrant disregard for FFP :p

Why would that convince him to sign? Even if that happened he has two options. Go somewhere he is far more likely to win trophies and top 4 won't be a trophy or stay at Spurs. He has a lot of the bargaining power.

Of course it was. We had the best form in Europe since Christmas before that game I believe. I'm not even slightly worried.

Betis will be a tough game though, they're a good side and held Real to a draw at the weekend.

Yeah but Barca keep beating Real these days, we keep beating Barca, Liverpool beat us by a cricket score and Real battered Liverpool so based on some awful logic we should beat Betis by about 12 goals or lose by 8. Not sure which yet.
