We've 9 points along with Shaktar so whereas usually 9 points has always been enough to qualify we have a chance to make certain by winning in Portugal.

There's another home game after this, but getting a victory after yesterday is important. The bunch of fragile ****.

Rooney's starting, no reason to suggest one of Berbatov, Hernandez or Macheda wont start with him given none have played excessive amounts of football recently

Not sure what the result will be given our only previous visit was settled with a fifth minute Phil Neville goal after which we were pretty much out played and relied on Tim Howard to keep our noises ahead

In theory we should batter them

dont no why fergie is putting macheda ahead of hernandez. hernandez seems to score when ever he plays.

Hernandez was truly anonymous against Villa (probably due to the lack of service) yet Macheda came on and scored a blinder and then went and scored twice for the national team in mid-week. It's no surprise really that Macheda got the nod.

Macheda needs more starts, at the moment he's a brilliant impact sub but needs to be doing it more from starts.

Who knows, as said above with us and Shaktar both having 9 points it's turning into a must win game. We've enough to qualify but it's worth coming top in order to avoid certain teams in the next round.

Shakhtar won 3 - 0 away at Braga, Arsenal need to rest Fabregas (he looks a different man since his hamstring injury), rest Nasri (looked shattered in the second half) and give RvP some minutes

I can't remember an Arsenal player looking as tired out as Chamakh at the weekend (excluding Arshavin obviously). Everytime he ran it looked like he was running in water. I know he complained early on in the season about not being used to the pace but he's been here for months now and should be fit enough by now. He was so painfully slow, especially when his chances came along. Maybe I'm being harsh as he played 80 minutes for his country and he's constantly chasing the defence, but why didn't he signal to the bench to get himself off when it became apparent he couldn't run any more?

Yep and it was so infuriating to watch, van Persie has been fit for WEEKS and when he is fit he's one of our best players easily, one of the most creative players I've seen at times and Wenger left him on the bench too late to make an impact, he came on when nobody else in the match could be arsed to do anything. Nice that Chamakh got his 8 or 9 goals or whatever it is, but almost every time I've seen him play he's been totally useless with the ball at his feet, not great in the air either so I don't see what the point of him is.

To be fair Van Persie looked like he's lost a few yards of pace when he came on, he looked a bit slow and clumsy. Pretty odd. Wonder why Bendtner didn't get a start or at least a place on the bench :s

Would have arguably been more effective sticking Walcott up front at half time. He should definitely start against Braga anyway.

I dunno, maybe he is lacking match sharpness but he came on and set up Koscielny with a point blank goal scoring chance, Chamakh had done nothing that useful in the 70 minutes he was on the pitch, I was just miffed that Wenger left such a creative player on the bench for so long when spurs looked threatening long before they scored.

Doubt we will smash them like we did before. If Robin van Persie doesn't start I'm going to rage.

****ing Chamakh, useless lanky ****.

LOL well i wouldnt go so far to call him that but against the Spurs he just looked well and truly out of sorts...twice he had the chance to go one on one against a defender and didnt:confused:...he was pretty much useless on the weekend other than the freaky goal he scored but for much of the match he wasnt doing anything of note.

I was raging that RVP didnt get more time to play....the 2 chances that Chamakh had...im certain RVP would have buried those if he was there instead of Chamakh.

But tommorrow i hope Wenger starts RVP, he needs to get back up to speed...Wenger is probably scared that he will get injured again and theres every chance he might but really if RVP is fit then give him a whole game and hopefully he can bag a few goals.
