UEFA Champions League 2010/11 Matchday 5 *** Spoilers ***

Barcelonas 2nd and 3rd goals were just mini masterclasses in walking around your opponents. A brilliant fan came running onto the pitch, legged it across the entire half till he was about ten metres from Messi and just stuck up a single middle finger with a beaming smile. Fantastic :D

Spurs did what they had to. I'm sure if they went all out gun hoe they could have easily put 5 or 6 past Werder Bremen who were very poor. Nice easy match, no one really had to work too hard which is ideal considering we have Liverpool on Sunday at the Lane.

Deserved win, dire match, dire performance.

Does.Not.Compute

That aside I hope Rangers never make it into the Champions League again, need to win in front of your home fans and play with 10 men behind the ball. Doing it at Old Trafford is one thing especially as it was early in the group but tonight was pathetic.

Only club in the Champions League yet to concede, keep Valencia at bay in the next game and we'll be the only club to ever make it through the group stage without letting a goal in, good achievement that!

Carrick is just the most woeful central midfielder I have ever had the misfortune to watch for 90 minutes. His passing was poor, shooting was appalling and by the end he was not even wanting the ball when a rangers player was within 10 yards.

Rangers are pretty much a disgrace to the champions league. They went out there knowing that the only thing that was worth coming away with was a win. A 10 - 0 thumping would not have made any difference to rangers tonight and yet they opted to just ride their luck and defend with the whole team.

It was just ridiculous watching the rangers defender who gave away the penalty keep on whinging that it wasnt a foul. The replay shows that he didnt just have a high boot, he tried to kick the guy really quite hard. I hope they dont make it into the champions league next season.

Stats say Carrick's pass completion was 89%

I just didnt feel that he brought anything to the game. No steller passing. Only time I noticed him that much was when he missed a few long passes.

That's quite a back track from calling him woeful if the only time you actually noticed him was when he didn't manage to pull off Hollywood balls

I may be a wee bit prejudiced against carrick but he was poor. I thought everyone else played ok and did some nice things, showed some nice skills in places. Carrick didnt do any of that; woeful is a bit strong but I am sick of him being played ahead of other players when he just isnt up to scratch anymore.

Carrick is great at passing sideways, that makes his passing stat look good.

However that shot when he was played in was ******* inexcusable. A ten year old could have placed it better than "side foot straight at the keeper"

Who should be playing ahead of him? Fletcher was injured/rested, Anderson is poor/un-fit/only just come back from injury, Gibson I think is also injured - that's everyone at the moment

Like I said stats say he has an 89% success rate with his passing tonight so he was by no means our worst player

Will be interesting to see if come January we recall Cleverly from Wigan and if he's everything he's apparently cracked up to be...

Course they could

Weird game at WHL tonight. The crowd were singing "are you Arsenal in disguise?" by the end of it by they really should have been singing "are you Rangers in disguise?".

Werder Bremen parked the bus. Unfortunately for them, it was a bus full of holes and some clinical finishing meant that they went into the break 2-0 down. But their game plan still didn't change - 11 men behind the ball and then only break with 2. Strange, strange tactics.

Luka Modric ran the show tonight... again. I can see us winning games when Bale, vdV and/or Defoe are injured. I can't see us winning games without Modric.

Ah ha, thats maybe why I am hating on carrick so much. I had repressed that rubbish shot he had about 5 yards from goal. Knew there was something else!

Well that was lucky. It would have been a travesty if Rangers had gotten anything out of that game. I admit I was pretty narked at OT, I never like to see that brand of negative football. But at home and chasing a win? Inexcusable, and i'd be ashamed if I was a supporter.

Hell, they're doing well in the SPL, why not go out there and hope that confidence brings a goal or two, especially with RF/NV rested? Good grief.

Now we just need to bring home first place, I don't fancy a choice of Real Madrid/Barcelona et al.
