Qualification spots are apportioned out based on the collective performance of that nation's clubs in the competition in the past five years. I'm not sure if a country can get over four though. At any rate it won't change before the end of the season, although FIFA do have a history of changing the rules of a tournament before it ends. :rolleyes:

He knew he probably wouldn't get a better result than Spurs, so he prioritised. ;)
 
Yeah, the rules are that first places play second places with only teams from the same country or group ruled out. The same country rule gets thrown out for the quarter finals.

Frankly I'd be delighted to get Inter, they're shambolic right now.
 
It is unfortunate for Spurs that City may "buy" the 4th spot, but that's modern football, and its not like Spurs haven't spent money themselves. But we would be pretty much nailed on for 4th with Liverpool as they are, and Villa and Everton failing.

I would find it hilarious if Spurs Won the champions league but came 5th, with City 4th, therefore City not making it. But as even the most optimistic Spurs fan I can't see this happening, but 4th on the other hand is a realistic target again.
 
I love the way people state it's a problem of 'modern football'. Real Madrid bought their success almost 50 years ago now, Liverpool through the 70s and 80s wisely cashed in as well. That's how its' always been. :p

Fat spanish waiter is definitely one of the more amusing chants. Simple, elegant. I can only imagine what it feels like to have Mourinho leave and Rafa replace him. If Inter hadn't won so damn much I might be tempted to feel sorry for them.
