UEFA Champions League 2010/11 Matchday 6 *** Spoilers ***

So if Arsenal can't top the group tomorrow, they're looking at a knockout tie against:

Barcelona
Real Madrid
Schalke
Bayern Munich (most likely)

Eep.

Shaktar haven't lost at home in about 50 games, Braga won't be the ones to break that record, it's a 50/50 draw, I think Arsenal could take the German teams, not the Spanish ones

I'll be crossing every part of my body in the hope of getting Schalke. Bayern are a very strong team, regardless of their form this season, and whilst I think we could have them or Real, at our best, we're nowhere near that standard at the moment. Barcelona will tear us apart.

Remember how we got to the final four years ago winning like every round 1-0 on aggregate? Couldn't see us doing anything like that now, could you.

Unless they're robbed like last season, nobody will stop Barca if they play anything like they have been recently.

Why do people think Barca were robbed last season, Mourinho set up Inter in such as way they could beat Barca and it worked. Yeah they were lucky but you need luck along the way to any title. I dont see that as being robbed, i see that as great tactics to frustrate the opponent.

No they were robbed, their injury time goal to make it 2-0 was onside, not off which meant it was chalked off.

Yes Mourhino did well against them last year, but they should have lost on away goals.

Senderos and Flamini at LB that season in Europe were amazing, didn't they break defensive records by never letting anything in? It's all gone wrong since Senderos started getting injured, coincidence? I think not.

Offside? it was stopped for handball and the ref blew his whistle straight away and if it wasn't for the loudness of the crowd the player would have stopped. Unless your talking about another incident?

Because Barca should have had 1 penalty in the first leg, at least 1 penalty in the 2nd leg, one of Inter's goals in the first leg was clearly offside and Barca had a perfectly good goal ruled out in the 2nd leg.

You can't really use that logic though. As no doubt in other games Barcelona would have got a decision which gave them a advantage or a opposing team got a bad decision. Or another team got robbed against another team and they may of had a better chance of beating Barcelona. You can't just take the incidents over the 2 legs in isolation and pretend that other decisions didn't equally have a positive or negative impact on them or other teams within the competition.

It's a fallacious argument and not really worthy of debate. Coulda, woulda, shoulda...didn't. Inter were worthy winners last year.

Of course ou can use that logic. In a tight tie where a 1 goal swing would have sent them through, 4 major goalscoring decisions went against them. They were robbed.

I'm sure Barca got the odd decision going for them in previous rounds last season but I seriously doubt they got anything close to the extent of what went against them vs Inter or whether those decisions would have affected the outcome of the tie.

Barca were however on the right side of some shocking decisions the season before against Chelsea though.

So you doubt any decision against them would have affected the outcomes of any of the matches they were in but are quite happy to state they were robbed when looking at decisions that should have gone for them.

As long as you've clearly framed your argument.

These penalties that barca should have got how do you know if they would have scored them or not ?

The best reply you could come up with? :o ;)

Of course you can't guarantee Barca would have scored the pens, however they were wrongly denied at least 2 excellent opportunities to score (I'm pretty sure there was a 2nd penalty not given in the 2nd leg), as well as the wrongly disallowed goal and wrongly allowed goal that went against them.
