UEFA Champions League 6/7 December *** Spoilers ***

*looks at a list of Champions League winners*

Well if you only look at those two teams yes but then look at champions Inter last year, got soundly beaten by Schalke who were then thrashed by United...doesn't suggest Italians and Germans are doing better than us to me.

I'm sorry, but who remembers things like that?

You remember winners of European Competitions, for all this "English" dominance, There have only been three English wins since 1992.

Italy / Germany and Spain have still produced more runners up then England too.

Oh so now you remember finalists as well as winners then do you :p

So how would that make German teams better over the last two years if we've both had one finalist?

No, I was unaware we were talking exclusively about the past two seasons in my opening post.

It might suggest that English and German sides are equally as good while Spanish and Italian teams are better in the Champions League.

Which historically is about correct.

TBH there has been a drop in consistency from the PL in the CL over the last 3 years, prior to that you had United, Chelsea and/or Liverpool consistently making it to the Semi Finals year after year, these days though Liverpool dont even finish high enough in the league to qualify for the competition and Chelsea during the last 2 seasons haven't made it further than the quarter finals and like 3 of the 4 other English sides this season haven't even qualified for the first knock out stage by the final set of group games.

Barca and Real have raised the bar there's no doubt about that the Inter/Bayern final though was a bit of a one off though much like the Porto/Monaco final

Not really what I was eluding to is it? I would think his almost weekly posts about how we're only grinding out results and how poorly we're playing is a testament to his frustration that they're only 5 points ahead of us

Yeah, but my point was that I doubt anyone's going to be particularly frustrated when they're on top of the table. If City were chasing you, then yeah, I'd expect it would annoy the hell out of him.

Anyway, we've spent over a year watching your lot play **** and still win games, so we're used to it by now. :p

no doubt that there is a shift in how great the English teams are in Champions League.
Spanish, German and Italian teams have been better for the last 2 years.

Why not put it clearly that without Liverpool the CL performance of English teams has been affected because that's the only reason i can see behind your claim

It's going to be absolutely dynamite when Chel$£a and Mon£y City go out of this in the group stages. Might wee myself.

Not particularly looking forward to this, it's going to be such a dull, dreary match. Away game in Greece with half of our best players probably not starting. Still at least we get to see Chamberlain and maybe Park if he starts, Chamakh can be sold back to Bordeaux for all I care.

Chelsea team

Cech; Ivanovic,Terry, Luiz, Cole; Romeu, Ramires, Meireles; Sturridge, Drogba, Mata

Lampard is on the Bench. It's a start AVB, now you just need to ditch your back four! :D

Lamps won't be happy with that.

Coquelin and Frimpong in the middle for Arsenal again, CoqPong, I really enjoy watching them, especially Coquelin who I think has a future in the Arsenal starting XI

I think they both do. Frimpong has looked good when he storms forward and Coquelin impressed me from the games I've seen him appear in.
