Referee think's it's a penalty
Commentators think it's a penalty
Pundits think it's a penalty
VAR didn't think it was an obvious error
OcUK posters think it's not because it was commited against a player in a United shirt.
What punishment should be given for a foul on an attacking player in the box be then? Last time I checked, penalties are usually given.
I have nothing against United.
It wasn't a penalty, if that's a penalty then we won't be seeing defenders ever trying to block shots.
It's a foul in the box and a penalty was rightfully awarded.
Well it was, as a penalty was awarded. A defender can try and block a shot without making contact with a player's shins.
You seemingly didn't read what I said. If Utd are being awarded penalties for the same challenges other sides are not, it's relevant to the discussion around why Utd ave had so many more penalties than other sides.Again, irrelevant. Regardless if they have been awarded lots of penalties, the rules don't change based on how many penalties a team have been awarded season to date. It's a foul in the box and a penalty was rightfully awarded.
football is a contact sport buddy.
So is rugby... its a spectrum. Its not contact or no contact. If you make a tackle in the box, miss the ball and take out the player there is a good chance you will give away a penalty unless the ball ends up in the back of the net after your foul.
Its only irrelevant tonight. I happens every single week and nothing.Which is irrelevant, the rules state that's a penalty - if referees choose to enforce it or not doesn't change the fact it was a foul in the box. If that happens outside the box, the ref blows and gives a free kick. You can, and probably will, argue the toss over it but it's a late challenge in the box.
