UEFA Champions League/Europa League 1/2/3 October *** Spoilers ***

We only lack depth in the striker role

Vermaelen is our only true back up CB, and he has also shown over the last couple of seasons that he is unable to stay fit for a full season, so we can't rely on him for too long. Also I don't think him and Koscielny work too well together, he would need to be partnered with Mertesacker to work.

The only places i think we need to strengthen is definitely another striker/forward to give some more competition in the squad. I wouldnt rely on our last Samurai to be honest and of course once Walcott and Pod are back fully fit then we can use them but id still like Wenger to get a proper out and out striker ie a fox in the box type of player. But in Jan it will be difficult to get someone of that ilk as most players wont want to leave and neither would teams sell those players etc.

The other positions i think we need a little bit more depth is in our defence, ie a cb or 2 to back up Mert or Kos should they get injured. Verm as great as he has been for us in the past cant be relied on as hes far too injury prone for my liking and i think Wenger will be using him as a sub more or less now.

Midfield we are set with Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshere, Ozil and Cazorla all able to interchange at times. It was breathtaking to see Ramsey, Ozil and Rosicky click so nicely last night, the interchange between them 3 was immense. Cant fault really anyone last night as the whole team put in a hell of a shift against Napoli. Fingers crossed we keep up this momentum as our fans definitely need it after the yrs of mediocrity that we have displayed on the pitch.

I was giving quite a bit of credit to the Napoli fans for creating a brilliant atmosphere last night even when they were losing but as per usual Italian fans show their utter stupidity as well.

I missed the game but saw the highlights, most enjoyable. Apparently the first 45mins were the best we've played as a team in many a year, with the 2nd half being fairly accomplished in terms of closing it out. Good stuff. Really the games against Dortmund are now the actual litmus test; we need to win our home game and I reckon we should be okay to qualify - maybe for once we can top the group!

Giroud makes me laugh with his clicky fingers thing he does when someone scores.

Yep i noticed him doing that quite a bit lol. Forgot to mention that as much as i criticise Giroud, last night he was absolutely immense...could have had 2-3 goals but he setup the first goal and again was involved in the buildup to his goal ie our second.

Good stuff from him and hope he continues this form of his, just want to see him score more goals for us.

I don't see why people are worried about his contribution of goals, it wasn't bad last season, and he's started well this season. His most important thing for Arsenal is his link up play. He brings everyone else into the attack absolutely brilliantly, which will be especially good when there is someone of Ozil's for him.

Napoli is full of gangsters and scum bags, in Italy if u dont know the place u will nost likely get mugged/screwed out of money. Napoli is literally a different country to Italy it's a mad place full of mad people.

Nope, never understood that. He showed a lot of potential last season, and scored/assisted his fair share too. If he improves on that (which he looks set to do) you'll have a fantastic player on your hands.

Edit: Ooh, 10000 posts...pr0n room here I come ;)

Its his sometimes fustrating way of playing, anyhow he did well last night and was pleased with his contributions to both goals. Just hope he carries on like this for the season, scores plenty more and contributes as well.

Bit shocked that DM hasnt trundled in with his usual 10 page diatribe on Arsenal lol. Maybe hes in such a state of shock at how well we played that hes lost his ability to criticise Arsenal:D

Oh just wait for it, it will be Wenger and Sagna's fault for something! :p

All sports, but especially football seem to bring these mentally not right people into contact with the rest of the social world. Be it Italians, milwall fans, whatever, its just so uncalled for. Any excuse to have a riot. Pathetic.

Ye when u think about it, it's only football that has these hooligans in the sport. It's quite strange really.

How so? Remember the guy is quite big, he's slightly slower than you'd like i suppose but he has a fantastic touch.

It's quite strange really.

I think it's just a case of odds. Football is the most popular sport across the world, it's very much ingrained into our society. It's sad that football has this tarnish when really it's the inner problem of the society itself venting anger and frustration through football as an outlet. Tbh, 99% of it is mob mentality, you see all these dudes putting two fingers up and swearing their heads off at players, get them in a room one on one and they'll be sound people.
