UEFA Champions League/Europa League 10/11/12 March *** Spoilers ***

How is that not a penalty?

Protecting the keeper innit. Should have just uppercut him to make sure. Commentators talking crap and the only reason that wasn’t a penalty is the score line and Lloris had the ball. Utterly retarded challenge.

Yeah i'm not sure that qualifies as an excuse. Blatantly late and over the top challenge which would be a free kick anywhere else on the pitch, maybe even a yellow.

Was quite a shock when they appointed him. How did anyone think Jose and Levy would work well...

*cough*

If I were a Spurs fan, I wouldn't be unhappy about Mourinho. OK, it's a huge gamble, but Spurs are poised to become a true elite club if they can get to the next level, and Mourinho could get them there.

He'll be able to work with the team to some extent, it's a pretty decent squad.

Levity aside, Mourinho's tenure at Spurs is going the way expected. Yes he's been shorn of attacking threat, but there has been no improvement in the side being able to keep games tight, grind out clean sheets, motivate his players - the kind of things that were Mourinho's stock in trade. He seems to be searching for his best team, but is pulling up blanks at the moment. The football is ugly, no confidence throughout the squad, and he's just thoroughly been given the runaround by a hungry young manager that was Mourinho 20 years ago.

Mourinho is in the position of Arsene Wenger, where his ideas look outmoded and he doesn't have the capacity to redraw the template. And it shows clearly when he cannot outgun his rivals in the transfer market. The main part of his career was based on a quite cynical exploitation of the available options, but now he's not at an elite club, the flaws are more transparent.

Jose has coached spurs well. Players are throwing their arms up in the air and blaming each other for their mistakes beautifully.
I'm no lover of Jose but in fairness to him this implosion was well under way before he arrived. Pochettino had been baiting Levy for at least two transfer windows on the lack of investment in the team. He was pretty open about it and their form in 2019 was awful, only papered over by the UCL Final. I reckon Jose will just be testing players now to see who has a future. Couple that with some rotten luck on injuries (happens to most clubs) and you have a manager under severe pressure and limited options. It looks like a long way back for them and Jose isnt typically a builder of great teams.

They had a threadbare squad and couldn't compete on all fronts but Tottenham played great football under Poch. You can already see that players are not enjoying being managed by Mourinho. He is trying to implement his defence first tactics with a bunch of players who aren't used to it and aren't stylistically suited to it. I honestly can't think of too many top teams other that Atletico Madrid that would gel with Mourinhos philosophy and management style these days.

He is akin to Wenger but with a massive disposition towards creating toxic clubs and dressing rooms when things aren't working out. Genuinely amazed Spurs went for him.

That Spurs squad is pants...what were people expecting?

They lost 13 games in the 18/19 season...not sure thats competing on all fronts.

Just seen the highlights. That like Alli being taken out after a shot is a penalty.

When you have Lolris and Aurier in your team youre already one down. Awful.

He signed a six year deal only two years ago, so any team that wants him will have to pay a ridiculous fee. I can't see it happening tbh, he's put himself in a really difficult position by signing such a long contract.

He is basically buggered now as Levy will never let him go cheap. At least Shearer had a prem winners medal to his name. I can see Kane's form drop off a cliff as it must be hard to keep motivated when you have the talent to be in Europe's best teams winning trophies but are locked into mid table for the rest of your Career.

They were up there in the league until the strain of it all got too much on a very small squad. Lost 6 in the first 26 games and then lost 7, drew 2 in the last 12. They were very much competing with Liverpool and City until that.

Its a bit of a miracle they got to the CL final really. Its not like they were playing boring, passive, slow football that you can easily sustain with the same 11 players. I wonder how Liverpool would be doing this season if they had the squad depth of Spurs last season.

Yeah he's screwed himself over signing such a long contract. I know they looked like they were a team moving in the right direction when he signed it, but it still seems a bit daft to sign your best years to a club that hasn't traditionally really challenged for much. If he's lucky he might be able to force his way out of the club when he's got one year left on his contract, but he'll be 30 by that point.

Liverpool 11: Adrian, Trent, Gomez, VVD, Robbo, Henderson, Gini, Ox, Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Slightly surprised that Henderson has come in for Fabinho but only because of the fact Henderson's coming back from injury but it shows you how poorly Fabinho's been playing lately. I hope I'm wrong but being without Alisson could be the difference between going through or not tonight. At some point Atletico will get a chance and unless we're a couple of goals up early we might just need a clean sheet to go through.

Oh that would have been perfect. Neymar injuring himself from being a cheating ****.
