I'm with you though, I haven't seen huge amounts of his play, but what I have seen doesn't justify the hype.

Real are so utterly unwilling to play through the middle, no quick interplay, no one twos, no driving runs, nothing at all through the middle. Not entirely blaming Kroos, though I'm told over and over again how utterly brilliant he is, the game has been devoid of any cutting passes. But if James or anyone else gets the ball on the middle outside the box.... it goes wide. Everything goes wide, it's predictable, easy to defend against and rubbish football.
When not counter attacking they are clueless. Modric provides a lot of good passing and play in the middle of the pitch, as did Di Maria when he was played in there. Isco when he stays there can do it but tonight he just drifts wide or puts a slow rubbish ball in or passes wide.
