Yeah OK maybe he isn't the player he used to be but a mix of things haven't helped his case.
 
Mata is so bloody frustrating. Acres of space and instead of letting it run across his body to open up the space he meets the ball early and drives at the defence away from goal. Whenever I see someone like Silva play you realise how poor Mata is in comparison.

E: LvG with another sub in defence. He is quite literally trying to make me explode with anger. If he makes early subs they are **** and nonsensical. If he makes late ones they are after the game is lost. The sooner this utter **** leaves our club the better.

You mean the chance that 9/10 other players would let come to the middle just outside the box and shoot and instead he ran across to it, making it nearly impossible to shoot? Mata is so often a joke, he has technique though he's even over rated with that. But he's makes the wrong decision often and his lack of willingness to shoot or run at the opposition to make space for a cross. He's always moving into space to make the 'easy' cross even if it's from a worse angle or position where other players would drive at a player, push him back maybe and create a good angle for a cross.

Thats exactly the one I mean. He has no pace, is slow to turn considering his size and physique and makes the wrong decision so often. At Chelsea for a few years he looked amazing.

E: ahhhh its opposite day. That explains everything. LvG is losing the game so brings on defenders and Klopp is winning the game so brings on more attackers. Lol at sturridges face though.

Just then he got the ball towards the edge of the Utd box and even though the entire Liverpool midfield was running back so no where near him, no pressure. He ran sideways across the pitch to eventually make a boring slow 8 yard pass that was on the whole time. He should have instead driving directly up the pitch and been looking for the killer pass in behind the midfield for Martial/Lingard. His game is so slow and weak, his freekicks/corners aren't great but top teams have lots of both and well, you have Terry, Ivanovic/others and you'll get assists from corners.

His open play goals/assists is pretty much awful for how highly he's rated and how much he's paid. I mean if you think about Fabregas, he doesn't have massive pace but he still runs at and beats players more often than people think. Less of a dribbling rings around people just that as a pass comes in he's willing to burst 5 yards forwards which often gets you past a player or two, and he's always, always looking for the killer pass, if he's on the edge of his own box or in the opposition box he's looking for the killer pass. With so much of the Liverpool team in the Utd half he didn't even look for a quick pass forwards to start a break.
